So I blow the guys ship and scramble his pod. I convo him and what happens? We sit there for about 10 minutes with im scrambled because he speaks FRENCH not english. I sat there trying to tell him that ill let him go for 3 mil but he seemed confused. Eventually I got someone to come translate for me. He apparently had no money so I blew the pod and left with a -1.3 sec rating which will be hard to work off since I cant kill NPC BS. Now just a few questions.
1) Do you think that he was PRETENDING not to speak english so I would let him go or so that he could buy time?
2) Should a character, who CANT kill NPC battleships, blow up pods at all?
3) Has this ever happened to you?

1. Probably not.
2. Not if you don't want to be a pirate.
3. I've had people who don't speak English, yes.

Yeah one of my corpmates suggested something like that but I dont think that would've got him. I heard someone once talk about google providing a translation service? Can anyone link me up to that, because I havent found it.

goto google main page, then select "more" above the search bar. But i wouldn't really consider it useful beyond getting a general idea of a document and such. Accuracy with it is hit and miss.

Be like "LE ARRRR" and they'll know.
And you're a pirate, what do you care about having a negative sec? As long as you keep it above -2.5, you're not really going to be all that effected.

www.freetranslation.com is a pretty useful site. I've never used babblefish as this one seems to be accurate enough. Used it for a few months to talk with a couple russians who spoke very bad runglish.

Decide what kind of pirate you want to be, if you want to podkill -- just accept you'll be -10.0 soon enough.
I don't get the whole idea of ransoming. If they didn't warp their pod out, you kill them. It's pretty simple
