I windows 8 out yet, or even a beta of it,I've seen some specs and images on it. Annoyingly MS, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to name the next version of Windows Mobile also Windows 8.
The desktop version I saw looked similar to 7 with the opportunity to put the start button/task bar on multiple screens, without displaying the same thing on their. |

But you may need to run the DirectX Web Updater software, installation I tried seemed to be missing a few legacy DirectX libraries that EVE happens to require. That also applies to a few other games, so run it once - and that'll fix that.

While it is stable, a significant number of features that were announced for W8 are not present. The prime purpose of this version is to test the "Metro" interface and allow developers to familiarize themselves with it. The Alpha version as such also includes Visual Studio Express 2012 to allow app development for it (and those tools are also used for Windows Phone development). |

The only issue I did have was as stated above during installation (or lack of). For years I have used the same EVE folder and just copy it from PC to PC and it runs fine without an install.
First thing I did was disable Metro, useless without a touch screen, too much movement of mouse needed.
Depending on your setup you may have to play around getting certain drivers to work but I did however switch back to Windows 7 last night due to a few issues that started to annoy me.
- Latest Logitech Gaming software for keyboards/mice does not work (old GamePanel still works though) - HP Wireless printer drivers crash (no fix) - Slow loading of My Computer/anything that needs to show a drive list - got slower and slower over the 4 weeks
I will try again once Beta drops, hopefully the OEMs get their drivers updated! |
