Hey all! i stopped playing EvE a year ago or so due to Hulkageddon, i was thinking of returning after Hulkageddon was over but i saw some statement that they would continue the event so i just stopped subbing and quitted the game. I love the EvE universe and the game itself but (call me crazy if you want) i just love mining in my hulk and orca as hauling ship, i wouldnt say no to pve mining zones in EvE, anyways im wondering from you fellow high sec miners how are the mining in highsec nowdays? i really dont care much for high profit. Ps. i know pvp is part of the game :)

Single turret hulls are now very tanky up to BS scale. Two turret hulls now have huge hold. And 3 turret hulls are mainly yield based. All ships are now much closer to each other Gromer wise with the skiff mining at about 80% of a hulk.

Ore goes into an "ore hold" (in a Venture, mined gas also goes into the ore hold). The cargo hold is for mining crystals (pretty much). All of the mining frigates and cruisers had their mining bonuses removed (exception Vexor Navy Issue). The newbie mining ship is called a Venture. Very fast, built in warp stabilizers, cheap and fun to fly. Cargo expanders do not affect the ore hold. In general: 1-turret barges/exhumers have a massive tank (40-50k EHP is not hard to achieve). 2-turret barges/exhumers have a massive ore hold (this makes them more appropriate for soloing). 3-turret barges/exhumers are intended for fleet operations, so they have a small ore hold. The barges/exhumers have bonuses so that they all pull in approximately the same amount of ore per laser cycle. The ore that is "best" to mine changes daily due to mineral fluctations. This page pulls mineral values from market data and updates them a few times per day. http://ore.cerlestes.de/index.html#site:ore Some lowsec and nullsec ores are getting large buffs in mineral content with Odyssey, so they will become more desirable.

Just avoid mining in 0.5 with a shiny untanked mackinaw. ... or yes, do it instead. That'll add a little more liquidity to the Mackinaws market

Ps. i know pvp is part of the game :) How the mining is? Nothing has changed really. It is the same it was before last Hulkageddon, during Hulkageddon and after Hulkageddon. Barges tend to have more hitpoints nowadays, but gankers adapt and miners are still unwilling to fit a tank. So they now keep getting blown up in stuff that could have a ton more hitpoints, if only... Oh, and I almost forgot: Either civilian shield boosters or small shield boosters are still the best shleld tanking mods in the game. At least that is what one might think, looking at lossmails. Remove insurance.

If you legitimately enjoy mining for its own sake, that might be your calling. If you mine to earn ISK, then you have to understand that there are no non-competitive ways to make ISK in EVE. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody. If someone tries to gank your hulk have orca rep the damage. Or just get a retriever and mine away in a 1.0 with a fat tank on it since you don't care about profit.
