Today I was crashing to desktop 3 times within 1hr. I asked around and apparently lots of ppl crash too. Not only are we getting crash to desktop often, some of us are also getting node crashes. Whats going on? Stability seem to be getting from bad to extremely bad lately ---

Think it's about a month ago since I last had a CTD/node crash.

EVE CTDs when the node crashes. If your computer's rebooting, have you tried turning off the automatically reboot "feature"?

The reboot thing seems to happen more in window mode. Try switching to full mode it will probably happen less.
But I have to agree it goes down too much. Two node crashes tonight for me. --------------------------------------- CSM Chat Log September 25, 2003: Fuhry> Some things we simply cannot test, and therefore we just put it on Tranq. cross our fingers and then get into panic m |

unplayable.
Log on for an hour, watch my adress book empty out 3 times, as well as between 6-10 corp members, and up to 20 people in the system I am in.
Not just once, over and over.
Not to mention the people who are losing ships like flies in combat due to the "warp to desktop" feature that seems to always strike when people are in crucial pvp gang warps.
please sort it out.

i have been playing for about 3 hours tonight and i have had 10+ CTD's tonight, and i lost a ship cause of it. this game has been around long enough that this shouldn't be getting worse as time goes on, it should be getting better.

Aren't they using Microsoft software to run their servers?

What feature is this? Explain please, as I reboot everytime my connection drops.

The Devs ask that maybe we all start running log server once in a while. Because ****ing about the problems doesn't help. I am going to start running log server when ever I run eve, and catch some of these bugs hopefully.
Anyone who has had a problem should join in. This is really one of the only ways to fix the problem since the game itself lacks any sort of logging...Which honestly is a mistake! ---------------------------------------

I agree with you. Some days I get up to 3 PC Freezes. Some blame the AC 97 audio driver. But I don't know. It's one thing to CTD, the log server will catch some of that, and you have a chance to save your ship. maybe...
With the freeze though, you're screwed since you have to wait forever to reboot, relaunch etc. ---------------------------------------

Yup CTD's and random reboots yahoo. If you notice, the game won't respond for awhile before ctd or reboot, it pretty noticable when you are fighting because you won't be able to turn your moduals on or of. -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

Edited by: Drutort on 03/08/2003 05:03:14 GUYS and to dev's
seems that after i scandisked my drives... windows gaming parition swap paritions etc..
the game now doesnt lock up and reboots the system...
ALSO i now went and UNCHECKEd in winxp... in the "system properties" -> "advanced" -> "startup and recovery" -> under "system failer" i TOOK OFF auto restart
I am not sure but this is what you ppl need to test first...
scan disk all your stuff as i did above...
test the game, then uncheck the restart...
one more thing... seems that the game did not reboot IF you used the check box on/off fullscreen... that way it seemed to work without ctd or rebooting
i hope this helps... also i keep getting all the time between full/windowed mode this in my logs...
Quote: An exception has occurred. It has been logged in the log server as exception #3 An exception has occurred. It has been logged in the log server as exception #4
blue.List: Key 0 out of range, size is 0
if you keep on doing more fullscreen/windowed you will keep on getting more of the blue.List: key 0.... etc
i hope this helps? support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

Ok here is a wierd one. I have been getting the same CTD's as you guys BUT only on one account. I play two accounts on the same computer in windowed mode and everything is peachy usually. Friday night however one account crashed about 5 times while the other had no problems at all. Both characters were side by side the entire time mining so it's not a system thing. I would love to avoid rebooting and crashing to desktop by running in fullscreen but when I play 2-3 copies of Eve on average thats not a effective way to play.

Until recently, I never had CTD problems.
But this past weekend, esp. yesterday, I had at least two CTDs without reboot, and I also had a CTD with a reboot for the first time ever. I was NOT running windowed, I was running fullscreen.

Haven't run EVE on my laptop recently... But until this past weekend, my desktop was pretty solid as far as EVE goes. (Interesting, considering that for the first week or so after the last patch I had no CTD problems, it's only been the past 2-3 days.) ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Yes... Obviously a /brilliant/ move. Trusting a large, high-volume, high-availability database to a Microsoft server product. -- "Never use a sledgehammer to drive a thumb tack." |
