Just gonna throw my 2 cents in here. I, just as many of you, have seen this sort of thing in other games. One that comes to mind for me is Asheron's Call. Where ya can "recall" to specific locations set by the player. For myself, it was not a feature I thought that game needed. The world was small and there were only a few places of interest plus there was no real consequence for jumping all around the map in that fashion. But for EVE, being as big as it is, I really think it could work for the better. Having to actually go to a place to buy a body to jump to later on is fairly big pain, not to mention stocking that location with items, ships, ect. But with Eve's current set of rules relating to keeping skill points. If the character you intend to jump around with is training skills, more than likely you're going to have to keep updating that body/clone. Cause if ya don't, then when ya do a personality jump or whatever its gonna be called, you loose skill points/skills. Now this next thing, if it hasn't been considered yet by the Dev team, it should be. For the upkeep on these special clones. There should be some rules in place so as to keep the challenge present. Such as not being able to always remotely upgrade the clone like we do now. Or as an example ya could do this:
Personality transfer clones located in empire space .5 - 1.0 sec status can be upgraded remotely from any Empire .5 - 1.0 status station with a (insert station module)and within the region.
Clones located in Empire Low Sec .1 - .4 can only be remotely upgraded from a pre-set Range at a station with a (Insert Station Module). Range can be either a number of jumps, a specific constellation or from neighboring constellations.
Clones located in 0.0 space can't be remotely upgraded at all. A player will need to actually fly there to upgrade the clone or will have to remember to personality clone jump there to upgrade the clone before his SP become more than what the clone at that location can handle.
Also it would be important to make these clones more expensive than the standard clone. Maybe 2x as expensive as a normal one? Plus force the player to pay a fee for being clone jumped in this manner. That fee should be somewhat expensive too. The price could be determinded by distance that your personality will be "transmitted". That way if you're in curse gettin camped at a station or whatever and you got a special clone set up in the Outter Ring, you're gonna pay through the nose.
Anyway, these are just my initial ideas about this new way of travel, they're by no means perfect.
