Hello... just picked up this game (for 20 bucks, no less!) and am totally blown away. Just a question... in the backstory, it says that the portal from Earth to New Eden was destroyed 'somehow'... and though this has (probably) been addressed - does anyone know if it still exists? I bet someone would pay a pretty penny for that bookmark...

No it doesn't but the system that it was in is called New Eden *I think*. Probably be a long journey from where you currently are and it's in 0.0 space but go check it out, you might find something interesting there...

Actually, the gate is there, someone posted screenshots of it long ago in the explorer forum on eve-i.com.

Wow... thanks guys.. those pics look AWESOME!!! Sounds like a tough trip, though... maybe somebody should have sort of a 'tourist agency' corporation that escorts people around to see the wonders of the galaxy.. hmmm.. *ponders idea*

Actually I don't think it's 0.0 space anymore ... not near a map to check though. Unfortunately the EVE Gate does NOT exist as an "object" but is rather part of the background. No matter how far from the sun you get (I reached 9k+ au on a bugged warp) it is still the same size.

Huh.. from the screenshots it looked like you could actually get up to the gate... or was that the system gate. I can understand the wormhole being 'background' though... that would be too hard to model and apparently you would die very quick if you get too close.
