Im currently running LVL 4's in Caldari space with this fit. Im curious though if there are any tweaks that might be suggested to get that last bit of efficiency out of it. The hardners are of course mission specific. I usually use Precision missiles for elite frigs but would it be more efficient to use a web or TP? Any other suggestions on where I might tweak this?

You don't need 4 hardners, least of which the thermal hardner, with caldari base thermal resist. Fit a cap booster and not worry about cap, then you can ditch that small gank magnet of a booster and get a med size.
Also, consider ham fit. 74km range with jav and 3x range rigs. Tracking is better than your fury hml with these t2 rigs, with the same range, and better dps. If you need, you have the option to switch ammo for higher dps. With hmls, you get the option to switch ammo for higher range, which is not as useful. Better precision than heavy missiles, 52km with javelins which is awesome to pop frigs at a distance. 29km with Rage, rips up battleships and cruisers at a rediculous pace. Swap hardeners according to mission needs.
If you want a bigger tank invest in something the ganker can't see like crystal implants. No reason to fit 500-1b worth of tank mods on a ship as EHP defecient as the tengu.

^This, and if you pimp something, make it the bcs, not the shield booster. Ppl will see that A on the booster and gank you before you align out. Time's not on their side so they don't hesitate. Nobody ganks for faction dmg mod alone, guaranteed net loss @ 50% drop rate. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

[Tengu, Tengu/Missions] <...>
Your tank and meta lvls arent' optimal. HM's + 3 rigs are okay no TP/web needed.
PvE tengu can have 600 omni tank w/o harm to damage and mobility in pricy fits or 350-400 in cheap "reasonable" fit. Both are valid targets for suicide gankers though. |

Pithi C/B Type Small Shield Booster + 2 Hardeners is my L4 tank of choice for Tengus, never failed me (as long as you keep the speedtank running).
I haven't flown a Tengu in l4s in ages but I'd go for the 74km fit as well, the damage application is damn near identical to rigor'd HMs anyway. |

honestly faction tank for lvl4s is just plain overkill. also, people can gank them for a profit... they don't even need to have a gripe against you, all they need is time and boredom, and they will break even.
for lvl4s on cald space drop the amplification node for a supplemental screening, 2x t2 em resist hardeners/amps is all you need for resists, T2 small shield booster + boost amp or simply a shield booster + large shield extender (Yes, LSE.) will suffice for tank so you can fit faction bcus + DED AB and not worry for gate alpha ganks. (that's why amps > hardeners)
if you are not worried at all about alpha ganks because you don't have faction on lows and locals don't hate your guts, then go back to the amp node. you wont see much of a difference on your tank, but if you want to mix max it, with hams you'll need an extra salvo to kill some of the 900kisk+ bships if you are using t2 lows.
i would recommend 3x cald bcus + nano on lows. for rigs 2x t2 rigors + one agi/speed, add on top a zor implant + pimped AB and you fly around at 800ms... npcs will miss 90% of the time. i rather sacrifice exp radius for travel speed.
speed is your tank on lvl4s, so a faction AB and good nav skills are a must.
also, drop HMLs and swich to HAMS. |

Massively confused. Why a small shield booster, when it can fit a large shield booster, still be cap stable with a few cap modules, still able to fit 2 resistance modules and an adaptive, and still can fit 2 ballistic control units? On Ballistic Control units, I thought after 2 or 3 of them, the penalty % reduction of stacking them is so high it's not worth putting on more when you could have something else defensive or cap related - maybe even electronic related. |

Flux Coils or rechargers if you have any mid slots. Cap Battery if tons of spare cpu (tough to put on). One relay wouldn't hurt too much, thanks to the boost amp.
I'll keep that in mind. The Tengu fit I have in mind has 2 BCUs so far. |

Why? Because any additional tank on top of the minimum amount you need is wasted, more dps will help you finish the missions faster thus earning you more money, even though 4 BCS is heavily stacking penalized, why put in more cap/tank mods when you already have enough tank to survive missions easily?
The 4 slot tank I used for my L4 Tengu (Pithi C-Type Small, 2 mission spec hards, boost amp) never even came close to failing me, the only time it got dicey was when I was careless and got 4x webbed in a mission against Mercs and didn't notice, Silence the Informant if I'm not mistaken, other than that I doubt my shields ever dropped below 50%. Don't forget that the AB and small sig of the Tengu allows you to speed tank a huge amount of the damage and more damage is tank, as the faster you kill stuff the less you have to tank. More tank is only useful if you're afk/not paying attention/not shooting anything, other than that it's a waste of slots which could have been used for damage/damage application.
That being said if you want the security of extra tank, the minimum amount of BCS I'd use on a Tengu is 3, with all the rig slots dedicated to damage application, that gives you 5 mids and 1 low which will allow you to fit a massive tank that's capable of dealing with full room aggro while just sitting there doing nothing (which should never happen). |

This has always worked for me. The only exception was Worlds Collide (Angel version) where I used medium instead of small shield booster, because you need to survive heavy close range dps while you're taking down four webbing/scramming frigates. Other than that, a protip: train for CNR / Machariel / Vargur.

The only expensive thing is the Pith-C. I used to run CN BCS as well, but this is the cheapo version. Hams are fuckin rubbish, time spent getting into range on things like WC, Pirate Invasion, Duo of Dicks, and Blockade will be terrible.
Tengus really benefit from a bit of money thrown at them.
People here are all like 'ohohoho gank target gank target gank target', frankly if you pick an area that isn't motsu, and you don't shoot your mouth off, and don't fire on people ninja salvaging you, you'll be fine. (This is before Crime Watch I don't know if it still applies)
If you're not getting any EM based missions drop the EM hardener for something else. EG a Med Extender II Webs are infinitely better than TPs for scramming frigs, and all frigs. Tards will argue this, but they haven't actually tested it, they just sperg what others have told them.
You don't need flares or rigors at all. Stuff dies just fine. Support a Hi Resolution Texture Pack |

Ammo and resists to rats
I see gurista missions alot and this offsets alot of jams. Hard to find a side bene.
The CCC II only needed for permarun until you have very good engineering skills. I actually don't need it anymore. I keep the CCC in case needed for when I do something funky fit wise and need it again in the future basically.
Worst beating I get is in 1 sansha mission (normal) and this is 25% if that damage to shield levels. Most of the time, jsut speed tank, kill frigs with a vengeance and its all good.
Most active hardeners will fit and permarun as is (i never eft'd pith gear tbh...so don't know about them)...I like passive resists and these I have had the whole set for a while. they resist fine so not seeing a need to spend more on a very workable setup. |

Since missile changes HAM's Tengu is the way to go with full range riggs and actually I use more tank than TP which is imho useless to waste a tank slot for a couple frigs it will take 1 or 2 more voley to get down, and when you know how fast ham's launchers fire welp, there are bette options for that mid.
With good skills and some basic implants+rage you get more dps than you need to kill everything, 1.2k DPS OH you're doing 100% dmg on everything cruiser and above, it's overkill. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

Forgivable for a level 4.
Its when those 2-3 Frigs turn out to be scram, web and elite when you really start hoping you had rigor rigged and packed some TPs. Ive seen 1.5-2B dead Tengus flown by experiences pilots, because they got allured by the EFT DPS display.
Make sure your applied dps on elite frigates and cruisers is not Kestrel grade.
HAMs dont have an anti-frig ammo option, so ignoring TPs/Webs or Rigor Rigs is not very smart.
If this hasnt been said before - unless you plan on blitzing L4s in low/null sec, 4-500M Tengu is a royal waste. A 150-200M Raven will do it as well. |

You definitely want at least 1 TP for a HAM tengu, there are some missions (a mercenaries mission, cant remember the name) where a whole bunch of elite frigs spawn on top of you and web you down like 5x at which point unless you're running a massive overtank, your Tengu will take alot of damage and if you cant down them quick enough you can lose it. |

I keep forgetting this is the internet .. where rudeness and arrogance is empowered by anonymity
CCP named them not me ... I just looked at the raw data of things like Explosion Radius & Velocity .... and lo and behold, as I said, they are different
I hear Target Painters and Webbifiers make missiles do more damage to targets of course EFT doesn't change it's reported DPS value when those 2 items are included in a fit so I guess it's easy to see why some people may discount them. |

Sorry but if you can't handle a couple elite frigs on a Tengu with ham's you shouldn't fly a Tengu and should actually spend a bit more time training your missile support your tank and navigation skills.
Before missile changes I'd say yes of course, but at this right moment? -jeez a MWD'n elite frigate with implants and base sign radius of 25 gets simply two volleyed before enter the 10km critical zone, after this is a matter of 3 or 4 more volleys, and this is for players smallest sign radius frigates, NPC's are far bigger and your HAM Tengu is shooting at almost 1sec rate. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |
