Ok, we know the servers crashed but my problem is if I should wait for them to get back up?
I need my sleep, but I also need my implants, and I'm currently at a gate in 0.4 or less space. Now if the server crashes does my ship warp away, or is it just sitting there waiting to get ganked?
The real issue is the petition system. Anyone experienced with eve will tell you that 9 times out of 10 CCP will not reimburse you for lost ship/pod. Even if all evidence points to an error by them.
So now I have to stay awake and lose a nights sleep or risk losing my pod and getting the standard scripted form of "Dear Jhon! I'm sorry for your loss ... bla bla bla... no way in hell we will replace ship/pod/lost skillpoints"
Just my thoughts.

in my experiance if it is thier fault - they will re-imburse
first of all - veryones ships / pods should of warped away very quickly after the crash
my advice if your tired
GO TO BED
if your pod pops (even on relogin) petition
but dont whine - oh i need my sleep

it's an arse, but what can we do?
yeah, in theory the ship leaves
yeah, in theory you sohuld be safe
yeah, in theory they'll reimburse you if the server fux caused you to lose stuffs
but a petition from you is gonna be swamped by a petition from another million people, and half of those aint eveng onna be genuine, just people trying to get something for free. so if you do petition (if you lost anything, that is), it'll take a while. a while where you cant spend the insurance money, and shouldnt replace the implants, cos if u get reimbursed then u have no cash and twice as many implants and ships...and so on. which means you cn't play eve properly until the petition comes in.
it aint CCP's fault, it's the French's fault
