i'm kinda new to this game but i've played around with quite a few frig and cruiser setups and looked at what eeryone suggests for each in the forums, but i've noticed a huge lack of setups for smartbomb use. they look kinda cool to me, so if ya'll have any ideas of good ships/ship setups that make use of smart bombs please post below. thanks

Bad anywhere in empire UNLESS you are one your own, in deadspace, or a long way away from anyone else.
Don't use them in a gang if you have someone from another corp in, else CONCORDSKI'd you will be. Good for kill small drones. (Yours, someone elses, rogue drones- sort of.)
Also good for killing missiles- again, any missiles. To kill a torp you need a t2 med at least, or a large. Or defenders.
And when they say "squish" they mean for podding

Missionwise, I use em for killing interceptors on level 3's. They also, of course, pop frigates quite well. 2 Large Thermal T2's ftw. Just make sure your drones are attacking something farther away than your explosion radius and let rip :P
And make sure you dont hit em by accident when gating to the location where your mission is!

A good position, a bit luck and good nerves will give you lot of fun.
Or to kill xx Drones attacking you, when facing a Dominix.

Just trying to make the point that 8 lg SBs do 2400 damage per volley, and another 2400 damage several seconds later if you have any cap left - with coordination and enough SB battleships sporting the same type of hardener, you can kill anything, including a battleship blob on a gate.

I once had to face 2 BS and 2 Inties solo. So I fitted my Apoc with 3 or 4 large smartbombs. Warped in on the nme fleet (far away) and let the inties apporch. When in range I fired the bombs. Took both inties  , cans , pods and corpses .
Was hilarious, tho i never got any of the BS's. So they are good, but be carefull. Lost my share of ships to Concord due to smartbombs.

I once accidently activated a domination smartie on a mission mate in 0.6, concord came.... after about 85 minutes of tanking ccp finally agreed to move me to station :D

I have a domi setup with large named smartbomb, very usefull in some ocasions.
Scenery: I'm npcing in 0.0 in my domi, deimos arrives, locks and starts agressing. Lock deimos, call drones in (while I'm still on shield), Neut+Nos the deimos = cap dead, 2 pulses = Hammerhead tech 2 goes pop, unleash drones, deimos warps away cos I forgot to fit scrambler (changed atm).

Well, I don't know how you guys do it, but in the roughly 250 level 3 missions I did, I never saw an intie or rogue drone orbit around me closer than 8500 m ... well outside Smartbomb range ... and since those fly much faster than me, I can't give chase ...
The best use I found for those things is to destroy structures in missions after having killed everything that flies, like that horribly tough Space Telescope ...

Seriously ? Cos They Tend to orbit me at 1183 metres. And Usually it about 25 Drones (I like to have lots Aggroing at once)
Smart bombs are insane Fun. But You have to be careful using them.

Same here. Maybe killed like 2 or 3 frigs ever like this. Always sit at 8km+ range. And I've also done a lot of missions in my raven and find them quite useless. Granted, gurista terrorists do fly in close enough to get hit by this...but I don't care about those... I want to kill frigs with it.

Apparently their also good for killing people in highsec so when you get jammed by concord you can keep firing away. Oh yeah good for popping macromining barges too.

Putting 8 on an apoc and charging at a macro miner or low sec mining group is always fun :D
Killing drones.

I had loads of fun in my smart bombing raven when Xetic was fleeing for empire when they were crumbling. was getting 10 inties/frigs a night at the peak. damn nice loot too. need to do this again sometime

So whats so smart about these bombs anyways? That they dont hurt your own ship? Smartbombs need an upgrade to the smart half.. They should be able to become FoF Smartbombs which can distinguish between friend and enemy. Then drones of yours won't be at risk, or gang members. Would cut down on the petitions for accidental CONCORDOKEND!
Early on i used the SB for missions where i would encounter drones.. Now I stick to rails, blasters and webbers.
