hi all,
I am new to eve I really like the look of this game but before I start spending more time on it i have to I have to get my computer up to scratch. I am am not very computer literate however I like to ask questions which generally helps so here goes:
My first step is can anyone direct me to a program that will allow me to show the specs of my comp (copy paste) on to this forum so I can get some direction on what graphix card I need( I believe that is all I need atm) I have intergrated G41 chip set atm.
Whaen I have that I will post my comp stats and ask for some advice (been told you need specific cards for certain poweer supply/motherboards ect),
Thanks. |

You won't be able to simply copy paste the hardware info... but it will show (on the top just below the logo).
As a plus, it also can wipe your computer of all internet history and cookies so that no one can know what your browsing "proclivities" are (beware, it also deletes any passwords you have saved on your browser).
edit: it's freeware so you don't have to pay anything for it and it won't "lock up" after X amount of days. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

You can also use Speccy for this, and it's more of a hardware monitor anyway. He who controls the veld, controls the universe. |

That thing is ancient. You are better off spending $300 on a new rig.. Even a cheap wallmart bought thing you buy today will beat this. Because of its age your motherboard wont be compatible with newer graphic cards. This means you will have to start checking for second hand graphic cards (often overclocked, about to fail since real humans don't have thermodynamics skill..) or old models still in stock. You Will pay more for old tech since they are often the last spares still in stock. Eve will run on almost anything built the last years. The quality of your experience however will depend on your rigs' visual prowess.
Do yourself a favour and don't invest more money into this. It is rare for electronics to go up in price with age... unless you have an apple 1 or 2 in your garage toss em out. Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first. |

You're very welcome!
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-260 this link will get you to the site so you can check the specs.
I don't know the dimensions of your PC so make sure to check the card size as to know it will fit.
Your post didn't contain what power supply you are using so make sure to check that as well before ordering.

Don't live in the UK but usually buy at Alternate, they are all over Europe and have a UK branch.

You can expect your order the next day when you order and have never experienced any problems, delays and/or damages. Don't know any other good shops in the UK but am sure they are around when you google. Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first. |

Try ebuyer.com as well. You can usually find some bargains on there. |

I looked up your mobo, it's a PCIE x16 (probably 1.0 or 1.1)
PCIE is designed to be backward and forward compatible (most of the time) so you can try a PCIE 2.x card it will just kick down to a lower bus speed, but still a big improvement over earlier cards and more importantly DX11 compatible.
Amazon.uk would be a good place to shop, because you could always just return the card if it doesn't work.
A more immediate concern is the power supply.
Pop open the case and look at it, how many watts is it.
If the PS supports at least 400 watts, you could try this card
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Radeon-Graphics-PCI-Express-Dust-proof/dp/B004XANO24/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
As I said, it's amazon, you could always return it if it doesn't work, but %98 sure it will work fine if the power supply is 400w or higher. |

O.K. first thx alot peeps for your time it is much appreciated.
I have just popped open my case and the PSU is 220 watts >.< and also to compound problems my tower case is quitw small also. I think I am going to struggle to find a graphics card to fit it.
The starnge thing is that it does infact let me play (just about lowest specs ect) everything meets the recommended apart from the card if I could just get a card to meet the minium req's that will do me for now. In lightg of this new info does anyone have any other suggetions for me ? apart from get a new comp

Did you try to get new drivers for your present card? Go to the manufacturers website and see if there are any new ones, they might help a bit. |
