So I am looking at the different range bonuses etc.... If I want to extend my optimal range from my target should I look for ammo with a negative or positive range bonus?
Might be a stupid question but it could be read either way.
Thanks.....

positive.
i.e. 60% range bonus would be weapon optimal+60%
Hope this helps -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Positive means extra range, negative means less range. I believe iron gives the highest positive bonus and antimatter the shortest but to be sure you have to look it up. Beware that a high positive range bonus often means less damage.

Edited by: Steve Hawk on 01/11/2005 10:57:42 I have another question on this topic:
Does the range bonus influence the accuracy fallof too? That means, is the distance, for a chance to hit a target with 50%, calculated as:
(optimal_range + accuracy_fallof) * (1+range_bonus)
or as
optimal_range * (1+range_bonus) + accuracy_fallof

It only affects the optimal range. When you put it on the gun, the new optimal range will be shown on its stats, but the falloff does not change. - Proud member of the [23].

Mind you however, Optimal only determines where your ammo does the most damage, not how well it will hit. You will often find that you have to be further out than at optimal range to hit, especially with medium and large turrets.

Aha, i didn't notice, that the stats change, when i load different ammo. That's good to know.

I suggest that you read the tracking guide before you start passing out your incorrect assumptions.
