Tilte says it all. I'm training Gas Cloud Harvesting and I would like to use a cruiser until I can fly something bigger. As I can fly Minmatar, Gallente and Amarr cruisers, I was looking for a cheap one that had a big cargohold. Exequror semed to be the best one, since it has a 600 m3 base cargohold and a 10% bonus per skill level to it. At max skill and fitted with 3 Expanded Cargohold II modules, in can hold about 2002 m3 or so (without rigs). It also has a decent drone bay (40m3, 40 Mb/s) so I was going to give it my 4 Valkyries I (fast medium drones) so I could defend myself of big and small rats (which are common in Ladar sites). About weapons, I could fit some medium railguns/artilleries (for example, 2, along with 2 gas harvesters).
I found an interesting loadout at Battleclinic, but... a shield tanking Gallente ship?? Thoughts?? Here you is it (copy/paste):
[Exequror, Exequror: Slapped together gas harvester] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II
Medium Shield Extender II Basic Heat Dissipation Amplifier Basic Magnetic Scattering Amplifier Survey Scanner II
Gas Cloud Harvester I Gas Cloud Harvester I Gas Cloud Harvester I Gas Cloud Harvester I
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
What would you guys do? Thankie!
Oh, another thing. I wouldn't have to post this if we had a dedicated gas harvesting ship :S So, I have a topic at the Assembly Hall, asking for it and proposing ideas. It's getting fairly good "likes", so if you also want it, would you read it and post on it, or even give it a "like"? Only if you want of course!! Hate to advertise it like this, but I think there are many people who would like it. For issues with the topic creator that I don't nderstand, I can't post you the link... you'll have to search it the Assembly Hall topic list (it has been at the first page for some days, it should still be there). Title is: "[Proposal] Gas Harvesting ship and love"
Thanks in advance! |

It has no bonuses to armor tanking...why NOT shield tank it? It's a mining fit anyway, not like you're running missions : / |

Actually there are quite a few gallente ships that can successfully shield tank. Heck, the exequror is shield tanked more than armor tanked, usually. The hyperion and megathron are commonly shield tanked for incursions, and the myrmidon even sports a passable passive shield tank if you want to fly it in wormholes. |

Didn't know, I'm Minmatar not Gallente XD thankie! So, what do you think about using it for gas harvesting?

Frankly, before I try an armor tank fit on a Gallente ship I at least try a shield tank. As often as not it works as well or better.
As for the gas harvester... yeah, that fit works. Maybe rig with more cargo expansion.
Personally I'd get a MWD on there, but that's more force of habit (and lack of patience for slowboating anywhere) than actual necessity. Threw this together in two minutes:
[Exequror, gas mining] Co-Processor II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II
Viscoelastic EM Ward Salubrity I Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Survey Scanner II
Gas Cloud Harvester I Gas Cloud Harvester I Gas Cloud Harvester I Gas Cloud Harvester I
Medium Cargohold Optimization I Medium Cargohold Optimization I Medium Cargohold Optimization I |

Yep, that looks very similar to what I used to harvest gas before I could use T2 Harvesters. You might want to consider an AB/MWD if it fits, it saves the effort of slowboating between clouds or warping out and back in. |

I usually use a thorax since it has 5 highs.
Something like this. Honestly I dont even use the rigs... in this setup if your going to die its going to happen either way especially in a WH...lol Usually need a hauler of course
