Due to some unfortunate events, things have happened at one of our POS that has highlighted the need for one other bit of notification email on POS.
We all know about the low fuel warnings, and while a little annoying they are nice. The problem is the tower being offline.
Imagine getting 11 fuel warnings and the messages stop....the next message is over 24hours later and is about the tower being attacked. there is also a nice little notification from the attackers saying the POS was Offline and that they thank us for the stuff they stole.
Interesting thing is First person to the CT reads off the fuel amounts and there is still over 3 hours of fuel there. Granted that is not enough to last the whole 24hrs beteween the last fuel warning and the attack email, but there was not 24 fuel warnings either. This means someone in corp offlined the tower before the fuel died. Problem is that no one seems to have remembered doing.
I would like to propose that whenever a POS Control Tower goes offline, that an evemail is sent to the CEO's and Directors that states the tower was taken offline and also states who brought the tower offline. If it goes offline because of fuel then it can be taken offline by "Eve System" or something like that.
In our case all our evidence points to a corp member taking the tower offline, but we cant identify who did right now.
While this wont fix our problem as it already happened, it would help in the future in case the person that brought the tower offline was a corp spy or something like that. Then we could atleast do something about it.
Are we mad at the loss, no. Does the loss hurt? a little. Are we upset? A bit because not only can we not do anything about it, we also know that the tower was intentionally offlined and we dont know who did it.

POSs only hold 24 hours worth of fuel, right? Maybe they shouldn't be quite so restrictive so less-than-omnipresent corps could keep it refueled and going.

Also some sensible roles for the POS would be great.

I like the point about the mails to the corp directors and CEO its a valid point. About fuel I feel it needs to be increased I think a weeks supply of fuel for a POS woud be too much but 2 days not quite enough. So how about 30 hours of fuel capacity and perhaps the addition of silos to carry extra fuel even if it has to be manualy transfered to the tower. I also agree that the role of a POS is a little vague

That is correct..even with a large set like the one we had going, it is possible to get over around a full week of fuel into the control tower. The main reason i have for this request has nothing to do with not having enough fuel in it, but rather the fact that the tower went offline 3 hours before the fuel ran out and it should not have on its own. That means someone had to offline it but why would they offline it when we had over a month's worth of fuel only a few jumps away?

If you dont know when your POS is on or offline you really need a new POS manager, Ive solo ran 2 Large PoSes and never worryed about my PoSes going offline.
