And that is what CCP has done. They have written client and server code that cannot deal with problems. We want them to write proper code, just like other game writers. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Last time I helped someone with this problem it turned out to be their ISP used traffic management and had wrongly labelled Eve as a P2P application. Another one I remember was a misconfigured tunnel to a peer - it was ten times smaller than it should have been.
I'm another who is going to say that you need to talk to your ISP.
There is nothing wrong with CCPs (or L3 London) routing that I can see from here, certainly no route flapping. |

Hello,
There is a fairly helpful program called "3D Traceroute". It is very easy to pin-point ISP related issues with this tool. You should give it a try!

Thanks for all you comments.
Some helpful and some about as good as my EVE connection atm. I have reset my modem/router and contacted my ISP. I have used Pingtracer etc and re-installed my entire client again. Logged in again this morning and within 2 minutes my account crashed with the same bloody error.
So, please excuse my bitterness and snappy replies to peeps trying to help out but i have not received a reply from my petition i sent 6 days ago to CCP and after doing everything i now know to fix the problem, am about to smash my computer and peripherals and go back to playing outside like we used to do before the interweb.
I will, however, check this post from time to time just in case a lvl 90 wizard has found a spell to fix my Game.
That is all.

How ironic.
The only thing i have heard from the game REPS in the last week is not to make up words with numbers And symbols to cover how greatly upset i am.<- INSERT CURSE WORDS THERE. Nice work.

I play all my other online games with out disconnect's. The dev's should fix the problem thier end. Fix what exactly? It isn't happening to many people because there is a specific problem CCP just refuses to fix. It's happening because it's a generic error message, that can be caused by almost anything. It basicly just means there was an issue with the connection. On it's own it's useless and doesn't tell you anything what could be causing the issue in any individul case.
At this point, after several years of this error popping up, one would think: "what about adding some description or exact error code (i.e. he underlying Windows API error) so that players and CCP can pinpoint those general issues into specific issues? And maybe discern the possible game bugs from players side issues?
No, it's too easy. Let's leave a catch-all general error and leave the players to create threadnoughts that are never answered! Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

I used to have this problem. Do you have a Belkin router/modem? I had to change mine before it worked ok. Bienator II: "You can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Since they don't drive what they can't afford to lose." I play in highsec. |

Had this problem.
The fix that worked for me was changing my NIC driver.
Good luck. |

Okay, I can see your point - but the facts do not fully support it; only few people suffer from this problem, and judging from the answers here, it has mostly been fixed by changing the ISP/altering connection settings, not patches on CCP's side.
Sadly I can not comment on the quality of the underlying network code; but none of my friends ever had connection issues. CCP should, however, really think about specifying the error messages, if it is as easy as you said... |

You can't possibly make assertions about the sensitivity of other games without knowing what the underlying network problem is.
All you know is that it doesn't happen with other games. To resume the previous analogy, now our car manufacturer should make their car less sensitive to washed out bridges, and you know this is possible because you don't have this problem while driving your other car to other places. |

I get this problem now and then. It seems to happen as I'm travelling through several stargates while reading/posting on the furums with the in-game browser.

Riot Girl wrote:I used to have this problem when I had a 10mb connection. I upgraded and the problem was fixed.
A 1.5mb connection is more than enough to run Eve just fine. 10mb is way overkill actually. The problem isn't the size of the pipe (for this game), it's the latency/ping. When you upgraded, some unknown latency/ping issue was corrected.
To give the OP an example, I see this issue when using a wireless modem but don't experience it on my home cable connection.
If you're on wireless 4g, go to wifi. If you're running wifi, go to hardwired. If you're running hardwired, do a ping test/trace route. If the problem is on the first hop, call your ISP and complain.
This issue isn't on CCP's side.

Hello All,
i work in the IT business full time (have a computer repair business) and although it's a bummer, this same issue has happened to me often. In as much as I will have 4 Eve sessions open and 3 will loss connection while one stays live. I've done some home work to test this variable and here's the results so far.
1) To say other games work, but Eve doesn't , really does not matter, since many games are not as complex or as demanding on the connection status as Eve. 2) If you are having issues as listed, simply bring your computer to a new location (friends house) and try the same variable before you replace anything. I pulled the computer from my home (the one having the issue of connection loss) and brought it to work and as you would guess the issue has gone away. Bring the computer back home again with nothing changed at home and sure enough, the problem happened again. 3) I thought it was ISBoxer, but my work will handle as many as 12 connections, but home will crash on 4. Pulled ISBoxer and problem still exists. It will even restart on 1 session while playing solo. 4) I've found that the connection only drops during a Mission for the most part, as I have yet to get a restart error while docked. 5) for those with friends (I know, many online gamers don't have real ones), try to get a client installed on another computer and bring it to the problem location and see if it fails. I have done this and found that it is my computer only at this location that is the problem, but the same computer will work at a different location.... crazy, I know!
I am still trying to pinpoint the solid fix, but I have reduced it at home by disabling any other apps running and playing 2 toons or less at once. I also make sure all my ships are over tanked....since I lost a Navy RAVEN and a Tengu within 30 minutes of each other due to this problem and of course CCP said sorry, but no issue on our end.
will post again if more useful info hits.
