What exactly are safespots, and how does one use them?

Try this for a solid example:
1. Open up your People and Places window, set it to the Places tab 2. Warp to the first planet in system. 3. On the way there (literally, as in during warp) click 'Add Bookmark' on people and places 4. Quickly confirm it so that the bookmark is created. 5. Once out of warp, warp to your new bookmark that is now somewhere between planet 1 and your previous destination.
Bam :) Safe Spot. It's a place off the normal warping areas that will keep you safe during dangerous situations (polayer hunters, need to emergency warp from NPCs, etc). Warping to a safe spot isn't 100% secure, but it's a perfect temporary "No, you can't touch me" tactic. ------------

However- be aware the bookmark doesn't take it's place in space until AFTER you have named it and clicked OK (or accepted the default name and click OK). It does *not* take it's place where you clicked "Add Bookmark".
Basically, as you enter warp, click on Add Bookmark, then click OK when you are at the spot you want to BM.
I hope that's clear....

correct :) Made a note to quickly confirm it. forget naming it, leave it with the default name and rename it when you aren't making a run for it. ------------

If you really want to be safe, warp to that spot, pick yet another planet and repeat the process. Then do it one more time from the second BM.
THis will put you in the middle of nowhere. Anyone looking for you can't notice you on the warp hwy and drop their own mark on you. Now they need fancy scanners to locate you.
