I think the idea has real potential. a source for small but regular income is really needed. i mean so far shares have no real role to play in the game and with the exception of voting serve no purpose.
it also allows for borrowing funds etc. definatly could add some spice. Signed

I think it would be a bad idea to have bank accounts that pay interest, or shares that pay dividends, because that would give people an income that they do nothing for.
Having your wallet grow while you do absolutely nothing could damage the economy. Its different to make money making and selling stuff, since that still takes effort by the player, even if they remain in a station all the time.
If you want a small but regular income, get a laser armed ship (no ammo cost) and shoot small NPCs for a couple hours.

Its gotta be player based. So it wouldn't work...
I would love to see public corp-run banks, giving loans and such, and having deposits...
But then, what about debtors? how do you collect debt from a alt that was never logged into after you lent him 20 mil? or what would happen if a bank took the 2 billion isk it had in deposits, and about a dreadnaught, and refused to pay anything back?
In the real world, there are sa***uards against this... in eve, they do not exist, and cannot exist... _____________________________ NPC Asteroid Belt Bases Honor Above Self Glory For Self Strength Of Self |

How about you buy stuff cheap and sell them at a mark-up, there, you've just become your own bank.
Banks should never ever become a part of the game, they're evil and wrong.
I'm Danton Marcellus and I approve of this message. |

Of course it would give income bt that's what happens in REAL LIFE and if this game wants to have a valid economy, it needs to add additional elements. I personally believe that players, corps, should have the ability to create a banking system. There's lending going on all the time, I say its time to make money off the lending process. I consider "logged afk mining" much more dangerous to the overall economy than some interest being generated on money from mining...
