I play dust but I want to get into eve as well so I downloaded the free trial just to see how it would run on my computer. Its very slow and takes forever to do anything. Can someone please tell me if its something I can do to help or is my computer just not d3signed to handle this type of game. |

You might need to upgrade your computer or build a gaming pc. |

Exactly you need to upgrade your pc.
It can be done cheaply. For example i play on a -ú400 laptop which can run 2 eve clients medium settings, with eft, eve mon, internet software, documents. That's a laptop so you can get the same spec really but for nearly half the price.
If you need a hand with this stuff just reply to the post and majority of us will help. Or even debate whats the best way to help you :D |

that depends -- what kind of PC do you have, and what do you mean by "slow"?
I've run eve (on medium, sometimes even minimal) graphics on some pretty ancient machines... One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

Try lowering settings?
It would help if you could post your specs (Graphics card / Ram / CPU etc) Run level 4 missions? Don't want to salvage? Let us salvage for you, and then pay you for it! -áJoin our Channel: Pro Synergy

I'm running on a Core2 Duo E6750 with 4GB of RAM, and an 8800GT with no problems at all - In fact, I'm really, really impressed with how well its performing, even with the visual settings set to max. I second the query regarding the specifications of the machine that you're using... |

As others have said, "gaming" computers from even 2 years ago can run this game smoothly; it's not that cutting edge graphics, so if your computer is very slow when running EVE, you may need to get a new computer.

You get the graphics your rig can take in EVE... If you watch my screen you'd probably wonder if you are playing the same game...

Sounds like time for an upgrade or run it with minimum specs. The hardware in your pc was launched 6 years ago and it wasn't state of the art back then... That's like 140 years old in computer years. Wait a bit longer and your PC will think Sir Isaac Newton a flashy young bloke.
Luckily today this is nothing to be worried about. Computers are no longer the investment they used to be and thanks to our ******** console brothers they tend to last years longer as well. This is because games basically are developed for consoles these days and pc users get a bit updated version. For this reason games still only tend to use 2-3 cores while our flashy keyboarded friends can handle a shitload more.
So a (insert price at walmart) rig can get you back into the modern age :). Just don't expect an epic EVE experience running it at crazy resolution and high detail, in the end you still get what you pay for..

Same here, E6750 / 4 GB and it runs just great at max settings, using a Radeon HD 5770 though.

I'm running something very similar with no problems at all - graphics on max just like yours.
These guys who upgrade their systems every couple of months do my head in - no need for it. Next thing someone will be telling me I need to upgrade from XP.
We need to hear what the OP's spec is before anyone can make a sensible reply here. |

My computer is over 4 years old. It's a an HP Pavilion Elite PC (m9510f). It's not even high end (it cost about 400 USD) and even on high graphics, it runs EVE wonderfully.
If you're using a laptop or a really old PC, consider upgrading.
Another thing you can do is lower the graphics settings - especially "Anti-Aliasing", "Post Processing", and "HDR Enabled" - I keep these off. I notice when I turn them on, the game gets a bit slow and glitchy. : : - These Burning Lights - : : - The adventures and thoughts of a newbie in EVE Online.

O ve done several missions and have gotten familiar with the game. Althought I am kind of stuck on a advanced military mission. I already can tell I want to take a career in military fighting or maybe security. If anyone could get me in a corp or recommend one that would be helpful. Thanks |

Agree nothing is wrong with your set-up.
People who upgrade their system every 6 months...they take (space) pixels way to serious.
Currently on a new PC that can run 8 clients at max specs, but I mainly bought it for college/work related stuff (3D CAD drawing kills my old PC).
My old PC, now used a media center, was about 6 / 7 years old...and perfectly ran up to 3 clients at the same time at normal settings....
OP, what are your system specs? When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Request to CCP: Please patch stupidity out of the game for Winter 2013. Professional Forum Thread locker. |
