I'm finally getting my first BS (Domi) and was wondering if anybody could please give me a good lvl 3 mission setup. Also I don't have the ability to use large hybrids just yet but I can use medium. I'm currently training up and need to use med. hybrids until then. Is it feasible to use medium temporally? |

I *just* got a Domi myself and am FAAAAR from being an expert, but here's my setup (which is working well so far for lvl 3 missions). Med rails will do fine, based on a lot of the suggestions I've read. I went for the mid-range large guns myself & am liking them so far. Note that I would love to have Proto guns & all Tech II equipment, but just can't afford it... yet:
High: 4 x 350mm Carbide Rail (didn't have the cash for better ones) 2 x Regulated Ion Phase Cannon I (cruiser guns, good for smaller ships in close)
(or...)
6 x 250 'Scout' Rails (worked well for me, but the shorter range keeps the bad guys a bit closer than I'd like)
Med: 1 x 100 AB II 1 x X5 Webber 3 x cap rechargers (2 Bartons, 1 Eutectic)
Low: 1 x Large armor rep (Just tech 1, 'Innefficient') 1 x Medium armor rep (same as above) 3 x armor hardeners (right now have thermal, kinetic, explosive) 1 x Adaptive Nano membrane 1 x 1600mm Nano plate
Drones: 30 Heavies (mix of Ogres, Berserkers, Wasps)
Lots of ppl recommend vamps in the high slots, but not sure if that's a good move for missions or not. Also, I just love gunnery, so drones or no drones I wanna shoot stuff. :D
Also... check HERE for more setup info.

Edited by: Luc Boye on 17/10/2005 00:36:39 ok here's mine lvl4 domi setup:
hi: 3 heavy nos, 3 utility (150mm rails or whatever you fancy) mid: webber, 4 cap rechargers (t2 might be too expensive, but aim for burton or better) low: t2 medium repper, t2 large repper, 4 hardeners, cap power relay
30 heavy drones (I throw in a mix of different types).
Now you need good engineering and mechanic skills to run this for lvl4's, but I guess for lvl3's it should do fine. Make sure that you have right type of hardeners, I run t2 repper+hardeners on all the time, and manually kick in large repper when I need it. It can run quite a while, but it cannot be run forever.
Oh, and keep an eye on your drones, dont let them aggro the whole spawn (happened to me few times :P)

6x 720mm Howitzers (Can deal damage specific to the mission rats) 5x Cap Recharger II's 2x Tech 2 Large Repairers (Accomodation if you can use T2) 3x Hardeners 2x Cap Power Relays
Drones, lots of drones
Needs 4/4 cap skills to run tank forever and still fire guns.
Tanks any lvl 3 mission.. Wait till the group is agro on you then release drones and watch :D most missions you can tank everything, then release drones once everything is shooting. Makes looting in an speed industrial easier.

Given that level 3 missions can be done in a cruiser once you get to decent skills, or a battlecruiser even sooner, you should have zero problems doing it any any battleship, let alone a Domi (probably one of the best PvE ships in the game).
These can be T2 or named or whatever, it shouldnt really matter since a BS is so much overkill.
Run yourself:
Large Repairer 3x Adaptive Nano Membrane 1600mm nanofiber Plate 2x Nanofiber Intenral Structure
Afterburner Webber 3x Cap Recharger
Any guns you can fit (guns are the least important part of this setup)
Basically the speed stuff is there because you will kill stuff very easily regardless, however looting will be a nightmare for you. The cap stuff is there because another annoying factor will be waiting for it to recharge between fights. You dont have to worry about killing things so much as you do about looting and recharging your cap, tbh :P
have fun!

Have you considered using Dual 250mm Railguns instead of the medium sized 250's - you'd get comparable tracking, same range, faster ROF, more damage from the 5% to large hybrids bonus the Dominix has, and they're quite easy to fit. I think these are a much better option.

I would deffinitely recommend the dual 250mm rails for the Domi. They do quite well vs cruisers, and well, your drones will eat frigates in seconds anyway.
I also like to fit a target painter. A Target Painter actually will help drones hit smaller frigs easier, esp if the frigs are trying to orbit you at like 1km/s or something. Of course a webber helps too but...well target painter is longer range. Also helps if you want to shoot at cruisers too. And it never hurts to have a bigger target.
Most of the time I'll just pull several groups at once, start picking off stuff with the turrets and once I feel they're sufficiently annoyed I release my drones and direct them to kill stuff 1 by 1. This can be done fairly easily on lvl 3's, you just have to be careful of short range/high damage cruisers.
Currently I use 14 Wasp II's. They perform well, but they are kinda spendy and take a bit of training...something you should prolly start heading toward tho, you'll want them (t2 drones) eventually.

For l3 missions using a battleship is retarded. If you insist, use this setup:
6 x 250mm II 100mn AB II, web, painter, 2 cap rechargers 1 large rep II, 3 hardeners, 3 magnetic field stabilizers drones.

6x 250mm rails (you get a malus because for low sig resolution with large guns shooting CRU and frigs) AB, WEB, 3x nice named or tec 2 tracking comps Large Repair, 2x Hardener, 1x Damage Mod, 3x Cap Relays and lot heavy drones. Dont go with ogres they are way to slow. If you like you can move cap recharge from low to med slots and get tracking thingies in your lows. I use iridium and uranium as ammo because anti is a bit to short for my taste. -- $ perl -n -e 'print "Stop blameing pirates! My LvL3-setup I use since 6 month :
4x250mm named Rails with Mediumrange ammo,so you can hit frigs from about 40 down to about 10/15 km 2x Heavy NOS (You can cyle every NPC at least once - good to keep the tank up in heavy situations - which hardly happens in lvl3,but sometimes you get bad aggro and will love the NOS ;-) )
Meds: Named Webber, 3 x Caprechargers, AB (for speeding things up --- you can drop it for another caprecharger if your skills are not the best)
Low : Large repper, mediumT2-repper, Active Kin/exp/therm hardeners, caprelay, 1600er plate
In fact you have a basic setup that works with standart tech1 stuff,so easy to afford. Named rechargers and guns make things easier.
Take only heavy drones with you according to the NPCs you face, and rip off everything webbed. Besides you can slay most of the frigs before they come in closerange. Let your drones run when everything has aggroed you,and most of the time you can read forums or other stuff besides ;-) Just have a look at micromanaging your drones, and have fun.

my domi setup for level 3's is hi - 6 250 protos med - 1 lif 100mn ab..rest cap recharger 2's lo - 1 large named or t2 armour rep and 1 t2 med armour rep ..2 passive hardners type depending on npc faced of course...rest t2 power diags ...mixed heavy drones . Dont like large rails for level 3 stuff 250 protos hit over 300 wrecking at times and i mix thor/lead and antimatter for ammo . The range and ammo types work perfect in conjunction with 40km distance my drones can atack from.Using meds also means absolutly no fitting problems or too much cap sucking

Dont bother with large on a domi cos they have really poor PG.
I use for lvl3s
H: 6 x 250mm (best named u can afford) M: 1 sensor booster M: 4 Best Cap Rechargers you can get L: 2 NPC specific hardeners L: 2 Best Large Reppers you can get L: 1600mm Best Plate you can get L: 2 CPR
DRONES!!!!!
You can easily tank any lvl 3 mission with ur eyes closed and let the drones do the work for you, if u cba then just use the 250s cos they make quick work of any cruiser/frig. --

low: t2 medium repper, t2 large repper, 4 hardeners, cap power relay WHAT THE HELL???
how do ya manage that?? you would need 9 low slots for that!.
ok use this setup. you wont have any trouble at all. say if your doing them for gallante or caldari , have this. 6 medium guns of your choice or 6 small (same type with same ammo) 5 cap rechargers 1s 1 large armor rep 1 medium rep 4 hardonors 2 kin 2 thermal and 1 cap power relay and a loada of ogres!
you could do any lvl 3 mission in the world with that setup and it would only cost you around 3 million 3 million to set it out! manchester united's best ever fan!

You are using a bs for missions designed for BC. You are already doing an over kill. Your setup is irrelevant.
Some tank. Some guns. Massive drones.
Whatever fits. Your worst problem is going to be collecting the loot in your slow ass BS.

I use the following
Highs: 2 250 prototypes 2 250 compressed coils (tungsten and antimater on hand) 2 heavy nos
Mainly the guns are for attention getting. Fire a shot at 100+ km to get thier attention and wait for them to come to you, save lots of time in both mission time and loot recovery. Tungsten from 55km out switching to anti at 20km. With average medium skills you should be able to pop most non MWD frigs long before they get to you (save one for nos'in) and the tracking speed + web decimates cruisers at close range. But i am definately going to look into the dual 250's people have been purposing to see how they do.
Meds: AB2 (for traveling to warp/accel gates and stations) standard webby tracking comp sensor mod (faster locks and great range for calling npcs) cap 1/target painter
NPCs are your freinds, ALWAYS, have one close and nos'd be it frigate or cruiser. Always have those nos's running.
Lows: large t2 rep 2 1600 tungstens or t2's (over 10k armor yippie!) 3 hardners cap relay 1 or damamge mod.
Mix of of heavies
Haven't had so much as a single loss with this set up, and my only close call was the angel bonus stage when the machie decided to stay 40km away. I just couldn't get close enough quick enough and lost the cap fight. Then again after having beat the bonus stage to recieve a lonely fleeting, not sure i'll bother with it anymore anyway.

As above fit a nice tank - tasty cap recharge a few guns and lots of drones
Then keep a Gallente Exequror nearby fitted with a 10mn AB or MWD then once mission is done get your exequror with 800m3 of space (gallente cruiser lvl 4) and pick up all the loot.

Almost no cap needed setup except for afterburner.
6 dual 250II with iridium
LiF afterburner, 2 large shield extenderII, 2 shield rechargerII (over 9k shield with 10 recharge a second)
Large armor repII, co processorII, energised regenerative membraneII, energised adaptive membraneII, armor explosive hardenerI or better, 2 overdrives (best you can get).
lots of drones. Most missions are easily passive shield tanked.
You ll need very good fitting skills to fit this CPU/grid intensive setup. You have been warned. ;)

I used to run level 3's in a domanix: mostly with ogers & beserkers, med rails, 4 hardiners for whatever your going against, a target painter, and lots of cap recharge for the tank.
Now I just breeze though the 3's in a Ishkur . I'd highly recomend going the AS route. Serpentis extravaganza was a breeze when nothing could barely hit me and when it did it was for pathetic damage.

My Dominix setup for PvE. High Slots=6x 250mm Prototype Guass Guns Medium Slots=5x of the most expensive cap rechargers ISK can buy. Low Slots= T2 Large Armor Repairer, T2 Medium Repairer, 4 race specific hardeners, 1 Cap Power Relay.
This agent running setup is great for Level 3 missions. I have not tackled Level 4's yet. |

Dominix is a versatile PVE ship.
I have been shield tanking my domi for missions, use the the relevant hardeners etc. In highs fit large guns (or 250MMs until you can use em), in lows I fit 7 X PDU IIs for extra tank and cap, OR damage/tracking mods :)
Obviously in PVP I armor tank. But with loads of damage mods, its a great ship to fly, but VERY slow. YARRR!!! |
