I realize it is a pretty big risk/reward issue, but flying anything much bigger that a cruiser I find annoyingly tedious. Frigates, on the other hand, are a lot of fun. The thing is, doing a level 3-4 in a frigate takes forever and is not really economical...
Off the top of my head, why not have advanced level 1-2 missions, that you must purchase rights to, and if you don't clear it in your time frame you lose your money? If you do you get your deposit plus a hefty chunk of change.
Just a thought to make missions suck a little less. Flying battleships does make me want to open up my wrists, however. |

IMO it's relative. I met a guy who had quit EVE and restarted again. this time around he had decided to stick with frigates for his first year. He could blast through level 3's in an assault frigate.
When I asked him how the isk was, he said it wasn't as good as when he used to run level 4's etc. But he was also only flying frigates so he didnt need as much isk.
So bottom line, if you like frigates you won't make as much isk. But you don't need as much either. |

Scan down sites.... I know a guy that makes a lot more than I do running level 4 missions in a battleship with an assault frigate. |

As I recall highsec and lowsec exploration were (and still are AFAIK) quite profitable, varying by location, and farmable with nothing more than a frigate or cruiser hull, depending on your tastes. On a related note: plenty a sell-sword (sell-ship?) could use a tackler in their gang. You might find mercenary, faction war, or piracy fulfulling as well.
Are these kinds of thing the pinnacle of the almightly ~isk per hour~ manta? Certainly not, but they won't leave you wanting for isk if you idea of a good time is flying frigates. |

Consider WH daytripping, profitable with a chance for action and you can do C2s in an assault frig.

What the other guys say! Lowsec exploration. Should be even more fun after the next big patch.
If you do level 2 or 3 in a frig it's all your fault and i pity you. German blog about smallscale lowsec pvp: http://friendsofharassment.wordpress.com |

You could do sites. You could do faction warfare. You could go do epic arc missions in null. The ship is not the isk making problem its the pilot. Hell I made over a bil once flying an escalation in a harpy. Get creative and get aggressive. |

as posters have noted, the isk is there, just not in the form of 'push buttan recieve mishun' that can be repeated indefinitely. I'm thinking of epic arcs that have lowsec branches designed for frigates, as well as other non-mission avenues.
Also, I expect hunting for the sec status tags will be doable in frigs. Fighting is Magic |

Caleidascope wrote:I can kill angel rat bs in the belt in low sec with my rifter. i often take our new players in scanned lowsec sigs or ded and we are all in frig sized hulls, to teach them speed tank, how to manage transversal, how to follow primarys etc... best exercice to learn that side of pvp without the pressure of real pvp, while making a bit of isk, and if one of them fail, they usually have a t1 frig so easy to replace.
usually we do it at 4 or 5, and in a couple hours, they are pretty good speed tankers, and we then have lotta fun flying frigs around
and once they have enought skills to hop in assault or pirate frigs.....well we all know what a 5 or 10 man assault frig gank can do with good organisation |

You can easily earn a half billion mission running in a frigate GÇô pirate epic arcs. An autocannon fitted rifter can complete them, although an assault frigate is much faster / better.
They are not easy, they are not for everyone, but they are fun and you will learn lots more about game dynamics GǪ other players being a much greater risk than the missions themselves.
Lots more info at GǪ https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread
I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |
