I hope ccp expects to at least credit our accounts for these "network problems" we've been having. I'm just about fed up with this crap and if its not sorted tomarrow I'm going to be spending my last laggy eve minutes escrowing and sending my isk away to my friends because I'll be leaving. Thanks for making it come to this, ccp.

What lag?
Seriously, I've played for the last few days and I've never gotten much more than the general lag-in-the-background-sometimes-coming-to-the-front-to-say-hello type lag. -------------------------------------------------------- Lance Corporal BSC Military

It's not affecting everyone (it's affecting me though ).
However, I don't believe it's CCPs fault.

The 'network problems' may have nothing to do with CCP, so why should they compensate you? Besides I currently live around Rens(V. busy system) and have little to no lag, even when going through that system. ------- Bringer of Squirrelly Wrath - Foaminian Card Cult

Actually, since DT today, I cannot remember a time where Eve ran smoother. I logged in and entered space in less than a minute after downtime, and handling modules and menus in hangars has gone perfect today. Even the Eve mail loads fast.

Because due to a fault with their provider, users cannot use the service they are paying for.
You may argue "OMGWTF ITS NOT CCP'S FAULT EITHER" which is wrong. CCP made a choice to use the third rate provider they do...
Why should we pay for it, and not them?

Yes there is networking problems, yes it is annoying as hell but deal with it.
If you bothered to read any of the posts about the issue already you might have seen that all indicators point to this being nothing to do with ccp. Why should ccp give you a free day or too when its not there fault that this is happening. If your leaving eve over this then you really must have already been close to leaving tbh.
And yes i'm having the exact same problem.

Work for one of them do you?
Or perhaps the only info youve seen on them is their own marketing material.

Walk into your lounge.
Reach down the side of the sofa and find an old 20p piece.
There, you've just been compensated.
Has CCP said this is their fault yet?

It's nothing to do with CCP's provider either. The problem is between L3 providers. Eve is hardly the only thing affected by that hop.

Errr... I don't think C&W are a third rate carrier... Neither is the Icelandic Telco who does the connection to iceland.
Tranquility is located in Telehouse in London, and these guys KNOW their stuff.... Routing problems can appear further down the line... it's ****ty, but it happens...

Edited by: Nee''kita on 19/10/2005 00:02:05 I would also like you stuff. However as I have missed it repeatly in the other threads. What IP can we tracert to check everything is ok (or not as the case maybe).
I know a lot of americans that are having problems but I have yet to see a european in my corp (yes this is an alt), complain about crashes.. (well my CEO has crashes all the time but thats happened wayy before these network problems).
Edit: Can also anyone give me any sort of link that explains CCP's server setup in detail?

Actually the problem is probably your provider.
Remember the Cogent/Level3 dispute from a couple weeks ago? This could easily be the same thing on a smaller scale...

CCP's servers are the last leg in a very complex equation that starts:
A) Your PC - even Top of the Line gear can choke on code, esp when it's components do not agree (like mine).
B) Your ISP - The latency added to your ping with each hop has dramatic effects on your game play. My route is 14 hops with an average ping of 75 or so... through one of the crappiest provider networks around - Sprint.
C) Routers - Each one you hit on the way to your destination has its problems, and if one pings out anywhere along the route you drop.
D) The Client - It's just plain laggy, that's it.

I do believe CCP did at one stage and I know for a fact that Blizzard has given out free days back when the queue to get into WoW servers were hours long rather than just one hour...

The main EVE servers are indeed in TeleHouse, which is linked almost directly to Lynx, which is co-incidentally the biggest switching centre in the world. I'm lucky enough to be on a good BT exchange, linked almost directly to TeleHouse and I never have problems with lag, except under some extreme circumstances(Like post-patch issues). If there is a problem with lag, its probably your problem(or somewhere else in between).
And look at it this way, if your Satellite dish gives you a poor signal because of a big storm, do you try to get money from your provider? Do you buggery.

Blizzard.
They gave over 5 days of free game time due to about 3 months worth of problems when WoW was originally released.
So...put that in your pipe and smoke it. It does happen. ____________________________________________ 87.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot

the problem resides with iceland telecom might i suggest one of their underwater cables has been snapped or some sort of other technical glitch with iceland telecom (who provide bandwidth to CCP i think) TQ is based in london - SISI Is based in iceland.

I had a 50 v 50 in jita last night, and although there was lag it wasn't unbearable.
I did however CTD just before the fight and so missed half of it as I got "login failed" for a few minutes whilst trying to relog.
