It's funny how the world of EVE sometimes bites you on the ass.
A couple of days ago, I made my first attempt at suicide ganking someone with a Thrasher. I failed miserably and didn't pay the incident any further thought until tonight, when three [expletives deleted] in Catalysts decided to alleviate my alt of her Mackinaw.
So I guess what I'm looking for, aside from bloody retribution on the [expletives deleted] are stories of how karma in EVE has turned for you, both good and bad. |

Let me guess, expanders in the lows? I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I'm not a ganker, but I live, plunder and pillage in lowsec. One of your kind tried to gank me transporting semi-valuable cargo out into hisec. Not only did he fail against my massive shield barrier, he also found a quick demise by my own hand as described in this riveting tale. While karma was on my side that day, I'm sure one day it will turn one me and take all my stuff! |

Back in the very early days of my first character, I was mining in lowsec with an Ibis (yes, I know!). Naturally, I was on the receiving end of a kicking from some pirate type. He gave me a "stay out of lowsec" mail, along with 5m isk as a gift...which at that point was all the money in the world to me as I'd toiled my way through the intro missions and arcs to just about afford some frigates and to fly around in the free badger one of them gave you.
So, I used the money somewhat wisely as a "leg up" for a blueprint and materials...and paid the chap back his 5m plus 10% interest a few weeks later (having made what was at the time an epic profit for little ole' me). It would probably be peanuts to him, but I was amazed at his generousity and at the time quite proud of myself that I didn't squander the opportunity.
I have always been grateful to that pirate. It would have been easy for me to be demoralised at being killed, but his gift spurred me on to fight back in my own way - work smarter, seize opportunities and become self-sufficient within the game.
And him? He got two killmails (yes, I was podded too, lol) and unexpectedly made 500k (!!!) profit. [insert random rubbish that irritates you personally] is further evidence that Eve is dying/thriving*

That wasn't really karma. That was them doing it right, and you doing it wrong. |

I once gave someone some ISK. The next time I saw her, she had 50 friends and was ganking me.

Never. Ever. Ever. Fly a ship that you've never flown before during a fleet op on the first day.
Fly it around doing nothing for an hour. Then dock it up. Don't touch it until a full 24 hours has passed. Karma loves killing people in new ships. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia A blog about contractual killing - http://www.blackstormcartel.blogspot.com |

I once killed a relatively new player undocking in a Hulk in lowsec. He convo'd me with a really good attitude about it all and seemed a nice guy. Feeling bad I gave him the Isk for a new Hulk, taught him how to make an insta-undock and gave him some tips, etc.
It's a few months later and he's now running a successful indy corp. I'm still doing the pirate thing. He checks my killboard and whenever I lose a ship he contracts a new one to me in the hisec system next door for less than cost. This was back in the days of RRBS fleets being the norm, so over the next year or so I ended up saving many times the value of the ISK I gave him originally. I took a long break from eve and in that time he sold his original chars and we've lost touch, i often wonder if he still plays. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. |

I met him in 2005. It was a match made in heaven. His Orca, my hulk... perfect.
Then one night in 2011 he came home drunk and called me a *****. He called my mom a ***** too.
I waited for him to go to sleep and then I cleaned him out. 8b out of the corp walled and 14b of assets.
He threatened to hunt me down and kill me.
I'm now living under witness protect in Venal.
