...and my driver needed upgrading, the constant crash and recover was really beginning to bore me. Ive uninstalled drivers correctly using ATI utility. Someone said try the omega drivers or the newest catalyst, well they suck, i load up eve, get to the station with 165fps then between 10 sec and 1 min teh game freezes and vid card shuts off, computer frezes. :(
Any suggestions besides ordering Nvidia's newest?
*Sorry for asking this, ive tried everything, if anyone could point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Sounds like your card is overheating. I have the same exact card and I have no problems. |

Edited by: Shai Faetal on 21/10/2005 04:05:51 i doubt drivers wuld cause such problems, as stated above u might experience a little overheating or ur low on power for ur pc.
looking at ur stats i can say u really need a heavvy psu to run all those, and afaik the ati card require a seperate power source from the psu.
be safe check ur psu output and stick a thermometer in ur pc case. if no immediate sollutions can be found leave ur comp case open install some extra fans or have a hge fan blowing into with, while the case is open.
i got a amd 64/3200+ 9800xp pro, and had to change psu to a heavyer 600 watt one. 3/400 watts just couldn't handle it.
edit: if ur case temp is higher then 60-80 degrees celcius ur overheating. if it near 90~, try baking an egg. - meh. go away (forum ***** wannabe) |

ATI's Catalyst drivers. The Omega ones Make my computer melt. I installed Omega DRivers and was subject to 22 CTDs on EvE and around 50 in total in the same day. ------------------------------------------------ "Its not Feasible to Dismiss an Idea because of lag" |

Temp get to about 87C before the vid card shuts down. I am using a 450 power supply. Funny thing is when i log in and sit int he station, im hovering around 175fps!! then when heated up...shuts down.. TIme to try the fan approach...thanks

You can get tools from the internet that will declock your vid card, making it run cooler. Not the preferred solution of course, but until you get a fan/heatsink upgrade for it...
You might want to check the heat sink on it btw, ive seen alot of vid cards out of the box not have the heatsink actually touching the gpu. Very bad.
and just goes to show how everyones different, i use omega drivers with no problems at all on my laptop. go figure.

Open your computer and clean the dirt off of the vid card fan. It did wonders for mine. 50C down to 30's

1) if its getting too hot, its bad 2) try the dna-drivers.com 5.9+ releases they are quite good if a bit hard to install 3) they may make hot cards work harder 4) ati tool can change your clocks when you run a 3d game, maybe reduce them or something! but better idea to get better cooling like maybe a arctic cooling silencer. Mine's fantastic!

anything above 70 and moisture in the air starts to form around the overheating chip. extended moisture presence can cause short circuit, but at the very least it will dramaticly decrease your products lifetime. If the fan/heatsink provided my the manufacturer is inadequote there are plenty of solutions sold in computer stores ranging from 15-100Ç/$.
A tip for case cooling. Before installing a case fan on the slots at the back of the case. take a pair of cutters and take that metal grid off from the way. You get more air moving with less noise. whatch your fingers tho unless you install a finger protector on it afterwards :)

Problem is in some particle shader. I play EQ2 as well as EVE. EQ2 would lock (looks like a freeze), go black for a few seconds and then reset. Annoying problem. The problems started occuring with 5.3 series drivers. I currently use 5.2 drivers and have no problems in either game.

I just got a new ATI card and I'm getting TONS of artifacts when I leave the game. At first the ENTIRE screen would remain with the last even image till I opened something new to refresh the screen. Now that I've upgraded to the 65.75 drivers the outline of the quit window remains on my desktop. I never had any issue like that with Nvidia cards. :(
Anyone know how to get EVE and ATI to exit cleanly? -- Lil Miner |

I got the same issue on my latop and desktop, mobility 7500 and radeon 8500 respectively. desktop is using latest ati drivers. When I switched the laptop to the omega drivers, the problem seemed to go away, but this means that the problem is solved with some tweak in the registry. Simple solution? just run EVE at different res than desktop, the change in res will always refresh the screen.

I have same graphic card ...i have lots of artefacts in eve, and graphic card is not overheating , i instaled ATI Tray Tool and i reduced the core speed and memory speed whit about 10%..i maked a profile who auto reduce the clock rate when i start Eve and from then i don't have any problems.

Well, I upgraded to the 65.75 version drivers and the artifacts are gone now. However I have two "unknown devices" popping up now and my monitor is all fuzzy. :( That might be cRT though, it's been dying for a while heh. Guess I'll try the full ATI 65.75 install w/Catalyst and all. -- Lil Miner |
