Hello Guys
so in the past ive been a bit of a naughty boy and killed a few peeps (-3.8). I want to make up for this and come back to the light side in order to reach a level 2 agent (can you believe I struggling to reach a level 2!) in high sec space.
So, I trained up "Fast Talking" which seemed to make no diference.
Now, someone has suggested to me to go kill rats, seems only fair I guess but, which ones are the best? Should I move out to 0.0 to do this(not prefered as I dont really have the kit)? How much sec + hit am I gona get for each type of kill?
Or ... is there another way?
So many questions!
Thanks in advance guys for any/all help. -----------------------------------------

CCP really do need to improvise a quicker way though.

maybe you should get a sec bonus for killing players with a negative sec status? unless thats already the case?

No.
My only remaining happy thought when being blown up by some weenie -5.0 pirate gatecamper in empire space, is that when he finally wants to re-enter civilized areas, he has to go thru pure hell of NPC grind in 0.0
Gank less in empire space, and you won't need to NPC grind your sec status back.
Ah, but the people in 0.0 tend to shoot back... a dilemma for every pirate wannabe

Complex's give better sec increases i believe (except drone ones which give squat) but for a decent increase you prob need a BS, i got a 0.8% increase from a 5/10 sansha plex the other day ------------------------------------------------- Defend Amarr space, join the Auctoritan Syndicate today |

So you prefer if pirates instead move to high sec and war declare carebear corps who dont want to fight not are prepared to, with nowhere to go to keep them safe except staying docked?

The point is they would not be able to get into high sec space war dec or not.
If you have a -2.0 sec then you cant get into 1.0 space and I belive that a -3.0 means no access to 0.9 space etc (till you get to .4 space where there is no probems with sec status)
This means that "hard-core" pirates cant just pop mining corps in Jita cos they cant get in.

So your saying:
Because I have shot someone in High Sec space and incured a penalty for doing it (Sec loss) and because CCP hasn't put in a system where I can EASILY get back that loss (Pay for it, faster gains, etc) that I now must declare on Random_Corp_001? Sorry I'm missing the logic on this one.
It only takes 30 seconds to shoplift but if your caught it takes months to recover from it. What is the difference in Eve. You kill/gank someone in High Sec and it takes you a week or more, depending on your play style, to recover from it. The system is balanced as it is.
Now lets get to the 'I'm not a pirate I wouldn't understand'. Your right. I'm not a pirate at the moment. Maybe one day I'll try it out. If and when I do I'll understand that when I shoot someone in High Sec that there is a Penalty for it and that if I ever want to NOT be a Pirate it will take some time to recover from what I have done.

You dont have to explain how security rating works, heh. You dont think that pirates, after seeing the nerf, work on getting their rating to -1.9 and keep it there? I know 3 famous old school pirates who are getting their sec rating up to move to war declaration PvP instead. And I know there's more of them.
When security status was easier to raise, some pirates stayed in low sec for the most part, but hopped to high sec once in awhile when they got bored... the new system simply forces them to seek targets through war declarations exclusively instead.
To all the mining / industrialist corps who will get targeted in high sec in the not so distant future... enjoy.

The logic is that it is a game, and people will do what is enjoyable for them. If being restricted to low sec only is no longer fun, pirates will simply adapt. And thats the result you will get.
Originally by: Ktor It only takes 30 seconds to shoplift but if your caught it takes months to recover from it. What is the difference in Eve. You kill/gank someone in High Sec and it takes you a week or more, depending on your play style, to recover from it.
You are comparing a RL crime to a GAME. That makes no sense whatsoever. Pirate players pay their 14.95 bucks a month to enjoy themselves as much as you do, and they will find a solution for themselves, no matter if you like it or not.
I'm not sure you understand how high and low system security works. You cant 'gank' people in high sec without being Concordokken'ed. No serious pirate will suicide attack repeatedly there. They either war declare a random victim corp, or pirate in LOW SEC. Low security is clearly labelled as unsafe, and a warning box pops up for a new player when entering.
And no, NO ONE who is mentally sane wants to grind boring, repetitive tasks for 2 weeks to switch towards a different playstyle in a GAME when they need a change for awhile. You wouldnt do it either. Trust me.

Sigh... see above about the difference between high sec and low sec.
I'm not a pirate (yet) either, but even I understand. Thanks to my buddy Mr. common sense.

Siren, congrats, you are right, its a game.
Its a game with real consquences for your actions.
Dying is painful for most people in this game, which makes staying alive in dangerous situations that much more enjoyable.
Because you can do whatever you want, and there is real penalties for the choices you make, Eve survives. A game where you can freely gank people, and not have any real penalty...I think they call that 'CounterStrike' or 'World of Warcraft'. I don't care to play either of them.
So, play how you want, do what you want, just be ready to accept the problems you bring onto yourself. Take responsibility for your actions. Sure, grinding away on NPCs may be horrible and painful to you, if so, maybe you should think twice about getting that negative security hit.
As for the OP, sorry, grind away, that's the only choice CCP gives you. The biggest rat you kill every 15 minutes, I think, gives you a security rating increase. Check your character sheet, there is a tab, you can monitor the changes there.

So when a newer player is still hanging around Empire space and gets ganked when they try to go into a little lower sec space (0.4) gets blown sky high by a Player Pirate that already has -10.0 and 3 years of skills, now making that brand new shiny gone.. now that player has to grind mining/hauling to get there money back to replace it in 2-3 weeks... whats the difference... they get fast money but loose safty, they shouldn't get safty back really fast after causing so many other people to have to grind to get back what they lost. Not everyone has tons of money to just replace everything lost.

Maybe you are right, but the consequences for the Mr.Ganker will be more severe if they mess with an alliances "bottom-line". I would prefer Eve to move in this direction as it adds importance to the roles of Miners/Traders which are essential yet heaped with derision.
Still, Eve is a game (and a damn good one), but from my experience its the ISKies that do the talking.

I dont care to play them either, and you know why? Because the PvP in them is horribly simple imho, and death is trivial. You chose some bad examples though, because everyone who plays CS obviously wants to PvP, as it is all there is to do. In WoW, on the other hand, PvP is entirely disconnected from the game except through consent, or special areas / servers.

The people who are -10.0 now are to a large degree players who started years ago and were perfectly fine with their 'punishment' of a low rating for years. But after so much time, people just need a change. And security rating gain was not always as nerfed as it is now, so the 'consequences' were hardly clear from start.
It is not my problem, anyway. I did not start pirateing years ago, I am a new player, so my sec rating is fine. I speak on behalf of some friends.

It is entirely their choice to go into lower sec space. There is a big red alert blinking when they enter it, and it should be crystal clear that if they want the higher rewards from lower sec, they need to be able to handle the risk. Being a new player myself, I never had any sort of issue with this. And I was even able to make about 100M ISK in 3 weeks of playing, with NO GRINDING whatsoever.
If someone cant make friends and / or figure out how to make ISK with an activity they enjoy, then I dont feel sorry for them.
There's a huge difference between ISK making and sec status gain. There are many ways to earn ISK and replace a ship, but the only way to gain security status is an extremely repetitive, horribly boring grind.

CCP should just implant sec stat gain per rat killed, not the best rat killed every 20ish minutes.. that way you can work up your sec stat as fast as you want without being limited to some timer.
Also going from -10 to -4.9 is a LOT faster then from -4.9 to -1.9 ---

Ok, glad to see this is still as hot a topic as ever!
Guess I will grind a few npc's for a while and wait. Although it does concern me that i cannot see my sec status gain.
Oh, and for those that want to call me a nub etc (yes there was a post sterotyping us all like that) I never ONCE camped a gate. All my kills were good, wholesome npc hunters/PvP'rs in 0.1 to 0.4. Deal with it, just coz YOU can't kill anything, doesn't mean we can't!
Yeah, sucks Avon that we need BS to do that, but I guess .... thats life!
Cya in game!
P.S. Thanks to those with constructive criticism/comments/suggestions! P.P.S I also often took on BS's in my Crow in the hope I would find some nub with a really bad setup - sadly I never did -----------------------------------------
