Edited by: smoked on 04/08/2003 06:13:49 I am sure everyone has experienced this. CCP should give their heads a shake, in a game where life and death is 10-30 seconds this should be #1 on the list of fixes. There isn't any games that people put up with that long that do this. I personally have never seen a game like this that you push a button and bang your surfing the interent on your desktop without a game to be seen running.
Something up here... how can people let this continue, esspecially with CCP's POLICY: TO NOT REPLACE SHIPS OR MODS IN ANY EVENT. (hmm this is possibly untrue, because GM's do not have the authority to replace them it doesn't mean ccp has a policy against it, not sure I do not beleive there is a policy replacement user agreement that players are able to read)
Seems a little twisted.

They're happy to replace anything that can be proven lost due to a bug, only problem is the only thing they can prove is that there's no way to prove any of the losses are due to bugs. Hence they don't replace anything.

CCP can't address the warp to desktop as stated by a major game review company?
And many many petitions I am sure based on this. So maybe they should put in some anti-bug technology so they can see when this happens easily.

As i've said before: This is not ONE bug, this is MANY, MANY bugs. But the same thing happens so for some (stupid) people it looks like the same bug. You cant just fix all those bugs overnight.

Ah...yes, that's sure to make people feel better. They're not dying to a single bug but "MANY, MANY" bugs.

considering this bug or bugs have been plaguing the game from the start, you'd think they might have tried fixing it eh? I haven't lost a ship to it yet, but came damn close once or twice. One of my corp mates lost a cruiser because of it though.

My favorite is the rare, but ever amazing Crash to Reboot bug. |

The last week or so has been simply unbelievable in the number of CTD's. I mean really bad, 3-5 times a night easy.
The odd part is that this is a fairly new occurence for me and most other people from what I've gathered. Something clearly changed that is creating this problem.
I don't dare engage in any PvP for PvE for fear of losing a ship to this ridiculous problem. Guess I have to stare at some asteroids for the foreseeable future.

yes I hear of that one a lot, but not often from me. Once every 2 weeks I get a crash to blue er reboot screen. Guess comp just needs it. Eve forced reboot hehe.
It's to bad, because I remember a little more stability in beta, though the client did have it's errors or maybe I just missed out on crash to desktop during beta.
I do hope they fix this or as above said acknowledge this problem.

Exactly what Besab said.. I would have the occasional CTD all along.. but the last few days have been horrid. Sometimes CTD several times an hour.. During my play time today I CTD prolly 8 times, with my first ever crash to reboot as well.
It's not my box, or my OS, or my drivers - I run everything else under the sun and my box hasn't crashed in probably a year or so... unless Im playing Eve.

When I get lines of "buddies" all getting disconnected at once I don't think that's client side.
My guess is they got a driver problem with video too. EVERY time I try to go from window mode to full screen it reboots my machine. Gforce4 ti4600. 44.02 winxp international drivers
Life isn't fair and neither is Eve. Get over it. |

I think the crash-to-reboot is mainly cause by EVE's very poor memory managment. Over time it simply fill's up the memory and at one point there is non left aside from alot of swapping and the system reboots itself.
You could run a program to agressivly reclaim RAM, that might help. Try having a look at http://www.majorgeeks.com á

For the record I am using MemTurbo2, been using it for about 1 week now, it's dramatically improve the rate of crash/warp to desktop chances.
Remember everytime you hit a mod it's like gambling... will your shield crash to desktop or will it save your ass?
Great Fun!

I used Viceroy's CTD chant in corp chat yesterday crying "CTD CTD CTD".
And the poor guy Cao Cao in the Scorpion really crashed as we owned it.
