Here we are, 2 interceptors chasing this Raven ... my wingman (Drutan) jumps right after him and can see him in the next system : he's warping to a planet. My wingman follows and BINGO he's right there 2 km away : locked and scrambled (2* 7,5 km scramblers). I come soon after ,while i'm warping the guy disappears from local : damn ! He logged off, let's kill his ship. I come out of warp next to Drutan orbiting the raven which VANISHES as i try to lock him. We are kinda disappointed but i say to myself ok, bug or 4-5 WCS(wtf?) , the ship must stay in space like 1million Km away because of the pvp-timer, I'll have plenty of time to go get a probe launcher and some snoops so we can find him. Well, the ship wasnt anywhere to be found with the standard scanner (360¦ - max range) Did I misunderstand the way the pvp-timer works ? If not, has anybody had this kind of problem (bug ?) before ? Is this an exploit ? We were really ****ed off as u can imagine and camped the guy for some time, til he brought a scout-1-day-old-alt in the system and began smacktalking us how we were slow, noobs, etc .... Eventually we got tired of this and left, but i'd really like to know what happened, if it's worth a petition or whatever. Please help !

If the person logs off before being attacked the normal timer applies. So, if they log and you then scramble them before they warp off, the PvP timer will not apply. ______________________________________________

Yep that sux bad.
I even stayed logged on in a mammoth without weapons a while ago, as the enemy pounded me at a gate, I could have logged before i uncloaked but sometimes principles matter more than Isk.
Shame on the Raven. Lowest of the low etc. I invite all to come here and pour scorn on such dishonourable behavoiur.

Note the velocity of the raven - he didn't just disappear, he warped off. Must have had 5 stabs.

That's not an exploit, he clearly warped away.

Aye, odd though as the taranis had -4 on him and there's notification of three other people scrambling. A couple of them must have moved out of range or something? ¼_¼

Edited by: Dionysus Davinci on 23/10/2005 21:12:55 Awesome, just had a Badger MK II do the same exact thing and I know he was effectivly srambled because he was at first warpiong till the server got my client back in sync and had him sitting there. Then while I was firing on him, he logged and his badger warped off in a random direction.

Strange, I've shot at ships before that didn't aggro me, then they logged and the timer applied then. ------------------------- CEO of The Establishment |

Most likely this person lost connection before he was scrambled, in that he allready had initiated the warp away before he was scramled. now if he lost connection during his jump to the planet, he is intitled to not be slammed by a pvp timer as he lost connection before pvp where initiated.
losing connection is not an exploit, avoiding pvp by deliberately losing connection is. sadly there is not any way to tell a difference. So if people escape you by turning off the game, its as silly as interceptors having big armor plates. yes it dont feel right either, but its just how it is.

Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I understand it doesn't matter if you have someone scrambled for a strength of 10, if they log they will warp off.
I had a Dominix scrambled for 4 the other night in a 1V1 against my Raven. He attacks back then realises he can't win so logs off. I could see his ship on the scanner but have no probe skills - I'll be getting em soon that's for sure!!

You're wrong I'm afraid. If someone has sufficient scrambling on them they will stay exactly where they are for 15 minutes when they log off - provided that they logged off after the PvP timer is in effect. If they logged off before being put into the PvP timer - e.g. a freighter jumps in, sees a few nasties while it is still cloaked, and logs immediately, they will be able to scramble him when he logs because he will uncloak and try to warp, but this will not put him into the PvP timer and so he will disappear after 2 minutes provided he doesn't get blown up in that time.
The above is how it's "supposed" to work, anyway. Evidence in this thread suggests that shenanigans are afoot in the world of Eve, but discussing them would lead to the locking of the thread ¼_¼.
