well just cleared my 3rd DED complex .. It was a Hi sec 4/10 ded site, I cleared all the rats then blew up the satilite dish with my drake..
Inside was a "Pithum C-Type Medium Shield Booster" that I was able to sell for an easy 270 mil.
How rare are loot drops like that? Did I just get really lucky or are those fairly common?
Now this has got me all pumped up for exploration, and I just have to search for more :p
But im wondering how often I would actually find things like that?

Once in a lifetime. Remember: you are immortal. Drop rates are really really really low. As long as you don't expect them, you won't be disappointed!
DED drop rates are actually pretty decent, and you are fairly likely to get some kind of deadspace loot from clearing them. |

It's the unrated plexes that have stupidly low drop rates.

In the Guristas 4/10 (Guristas Scout Outpost) yes, it's what drops the deadspace loot. In other races' DED sites it's other things, the Serpentis it's the overseer battleship, Can't recall the others.

Seems to be that blowing up meaningless-looking objects in the sites is worthwhile. I keep hearing people reporting on good drop they got from doing that. I'm trying not to think about the number I sites I went through without shooting any Objects....  |

No...there aren't any changes to the ded (combat) plexes only the way you scan for them. On test you can't enter 3 or 4/10s anymore with tech3 hulls but that's not much of a change. Now you'll just loose out to the new FoTM rather than the Tengu.
