Are fuel blocks going to spike or go up in price after Odessey? Not looking for an angle here, except perhaps stocking up before they do.
Sorry if this has been covered. Have googled a lot for discussions on this. |

My crystal ball says: maybe.

Yep, probably double in price by the end of the summer as stockpiles dry up.
Or not.

Well, I bought 2 months extra supply just in case, and mined out 2k ice blocks as a little hedge.

Everyone in my alliance who does POS work has a stockpile of a year or more. I think other people are creating huge stocks as well. It may be awhile for any sort of "icepocolypse" to occur, maybe long enough for the game to adapt. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

People are suggesting low ends will fall in price. If that's true, low ends being over 1/2 the costs in making the items I make, I'm guessing higher POS costs will be offset to an extent, so the net effect might be zero.
After that, it's all down to the moon goo changes I guess. |

Maybe. Over the summer you might keep an eye on battleship volumes combined with any news of increased fighting for freshly shuffled moons.

Everyone I know who can mine is mining ice for last two months. Everyone I know who has a POS is stocking up fuel for the last two months. There is enough ice and fuel in game to last for two years or more without any ice being mined at all.
Simple rule of demand and supply applies here. A radically increased supply will meet a reduced demand. The price for ice will fall. "Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future." Sonmi-451 |

Stockpiles are tricky things. They can be stolen or blown up, and as prices creep up freighters loaded with isotopes will be prime targets in the future.
Or the "stockpile" can simply disappear into the Bit Bucket if a player quits or gets banned.

Sure, but blowing up transports or quitting players and things like that also happens in "normal" times and is factored in in "normal" prices with a "normal" supply and demand situation. Less demand and much more supply is just added to this.
But let's see what the prices are in July or August. My bet is on a reduced price for ice compared to today. "Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future." Sonmi-451 |

I agree that there will be a fluctuation in prices, and it will be a bit rocky for a while, but eventually it will settle to a new, higher stable point

Hmmmm reduced price for ice?
Let's think: if it increases in price, more people will do it. More people doing it will decrease the price, so fewer people will do it, until the price rises again. Except there's a limit on supply, so an effective floor there (for high-sec mining at least).
I wonder if the stable point around which it will fluctuate has already been priced in with the recent rise?

I doubt it. It was only a little under a year ago (mid June, 2012) that White Glaze hit 420K per block.
The price will gradually trend up as stockpiles are consumed, but the real kicker will be if there's another interdiction. The soon-to-be limited availability of ice would make that kind of campaign much more of a shock to the economy than ever before.
Then you'd see the much discussed "butterfly effect" in all it's glory, so to speak.

My gut says that ice products will not rise significantly more than where they are now. Though highsec will no longer be the sole supplier, the reduction in cycle time will dramatically increase the incentive to mine ice. Any major price jumps would make ice mining as profitable as running incursions.
Any interdiction events will have signicantly more punch so it will be interesting to see how these mechanic changes affect the meta going forward. |

Well, I doubt I'll be mining Ice anymore... Every time I've tried it's already gone before I even get there.
I guess having a life is an issue now within EvE...
I predict Ice prices ending up higher than current as alot of the older miners with lives cannot effectively mine anymore. |

Most likely given that a lot of isboxers were affected. I have supplies of all isotopes in excess of a 20million each to off load when prices increase. |

So far, prices look pretty flat. Either huge stocks out there (people like the guy above me), or it's not really made a huge difference. |
