Map control panel > stars > colour stars > kills in last hour, pod kills in last hour, etc.
Dotlan can also provide this information
Effortless intel, or if you really need up-to-the-instant intel, use a scout!
Lastly, google "cloak mwd trick" and don't try to run a gatecamp in a slow-aligning ship.
edit: and for god's sakes, fully fit your ships! Find a player corp or some experienced players to learn from. |

Why you avoid gate camps... fit an ECM blackbird and go troll gate campers Trust me it is fun to do
EDIT: Ok on a more serious thing, heavily camped systems are usually known in the region you are in, bad systems as well Where I am usually Kamela -> Sosala gate, Kamela -> Kourmonen gate are usually getting camped too much
So local intel might help you identify and avoid the highest possible camped gates around Newbie?, want to shoot ships? see here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=169575 |

check map statistics for "ships destroyed in the last hour" and after you can look at the pods destroyed and even check dotlan for kill mails from the system. Should give you a general idea as to what's going on. pew pew 24/7 |

If I warp into a camp then jump I usually leave a can on the safe side. This used to be more common, but enough people still do it that you will see them on occasion. So if you see a random can floating around a chokepoint jump it prolly means there is a camp on the other side.
The other thing to do is camp the safe side and see who comes out; there's a lot of guys in low for the PI and they are all pretty good at getting through the camps. See if they have an intel channel or an open corp channel that you can get in on.
honestly though in lowsec none of that is really necessary once you learn the cloak/MWD trick. You can move any ship you want right through 99% of lowsec camps. Once that gets boring you are ready for null or w-space. What is gaming when compared to rl? -á http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=V7-1ndsiVNA&feature=endscreen |

See what corps operate that aren't pirate focused in your area. Get on speaking terms with them. Organize and kick the campers out. It's a sandbox. You have tools at your disposal. Use them. |

Dotlan maps. Look at the route you want to travel and compare number of jumps in the last 6 hrs with number of NPC kills and player/pod kills in the same time frame. Knowing what to look for will tell you if it's populated by player pirates or lowsec ratters. "you can identify eve players by looking at their cars. Confirming that staying docked will avoid 100% of all gatecamps.

Maybe you could try one of the other thousands of activities in this game that don't involve jumping through camped systems.
Or just keep not playing. Your choice.

Use a 2nd account alt clone with low skills and no implants so it stays at Alpha clone level. A noob frigate is fine but a shuttle has a better chance to warp away. Remember to move your medical station near the area you're scouting.

Everyone has provided solid advice for trying to not jump into a gate camp, but it does still happen. You can escape a lot of them, however, if you know how.

That's the most funny part about getting into a gate camp I got into gate camps several times while I was trying to catch my fleet with a blackbird, it feels awesome when you can jam all the 4 points on you and warp away then troll them with a "I win you lose " Newbie?, want to shoot ships? see here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=169575 |

If they even bother to point you they are doing it wrong. I think you have never done this thing that you claim.

Jamming your way out of a gate camp sounds like a lot of fun, but only 30% of camps are manned by noobs, the others have enough alpha that jamming is irrelevant. Your experiences aside I don't see ECM as a reliable tactic for evasion.

how to escape gatecamps? easy. learn about all the losec entry points you need to, and travel about them in a shuttle or frigate thru them so you may learn which ones are usually camped or not.

Yes.
When you enter a low sec system, check local. If there are more than about five people other than you, then you need to 'bounce'. Warp to a random planet in the system, open map, check nearest planet to gate. Warp to that planet if you're not already there, then d-scan the gate to check if it's clear. You have to decide what you want to do from there. Wait them out, find another route, or just run the camp. Of course, if there's no one at the gate, then go for it.
Your biggest problem will always be the other side of the gate though. Not much you can do about that but check intel on the next system in Dotlan or in-game sov details. You don't scare me. I've been to Jita. |
