For the last week we have been experiencing mass crashes 1-2 times an hour, all day long, it typically dumps 80% or more of the people online. This is definately effecting us all as when I do "survive" a mass disconnect, I see my rather large address book spam with disconnects, and typically all those I chat with in Teamspeak report the same. This is definately on EVE's end of things or their route to them.
Can we get an update on what is happening? Is this a network issue? Is this a server issue? Can we expect this to go away with the patch? EVE's greatest accomplishment to me was its incredible stability hither to now - I was amazed by it, but now this has been going on for a week with no word on why ...

Don't quote me on this but I believe a GM on the Trade channel said that the reason has something to do with password protected chat channels of all things.
Something about people not giving out the password or changing the password perhaps??? Not sure.

So some Joe flubs up his password and everyone gets kicked? Who coded that? I don't understand how that can affect other people log ons though, but so long as they locate the problem and fix it, I'm peaches and cherries.

Ditto. Even though it's too late for me I think the people who pay your wages deserve to be treated with a modicum of courtesy and respect.
NB - this is only partially aimed at the devs, "customer support" should be dealing with the public facing side of all this. Given that Pann (or whoever is tasked with this) appears to work for 10 minutes a week on Eve it'd no doubt be appreciated if Helmar (who shouldn't have to deal with this ****) could post a detailed blog on what has gone wrong and where the devs are on sorting it out. A word to the wise Helmar - a few lines won't work on this one. Go into some detail even if most people won't understand it. It will "filter down" - and I mean that in no derogatory sense (we all have different skills).

Edited by: Isomerone on 05/08/2003 07:25:46 3 Polaris and 2 Devs were in help today. The firestorm that erupted over the CTD and item lose forced the devs and 1 polaris out. They went through the standard 'check this' until they admited it was server and patch/driver issues. I'd rather see EVE run for an hour without crashing than any new content.
I was going to hunt with my BS but with all of this I'm going to mine and wait until it's ironed out.
EVE is the only program with enough crap to reboot my system on crash. That takes talent.
Patience is a virtue. Question is; can I be patient enough for a fix, or will a stable game come along before something is done.

I came to EVE because of stability issues with Shadowbane, and have always been amazed on how stable it is, until last patch. I am not going to leave over any one technical issue alone (Though if they implement this MWD thing before fixing being stuck on roids/stations/warping, I think that will be a deal breaker for me), and certainly not their first major stumble on stability ... However, I do expect clear communication from CCP regarding this issue, at least an acknowledgement of it and a, "we are working on it, thanks for your patience" instead of the stoney silence and lack of "ownership" of the problem we are seeing.
