Hi. As stated I am a 4 year scarebear hugging the apron strings of high sec. Out of pure burnt out boredom and a bottle of Sangria I hopped in a Breacher and after an hour finally got a fight in Rens. I won, was hooked, and made a friend. We practiced a lot testing his Rifter against all my toys, Probe/Breacher/Incursus, etc. Anyway I am really hooked on this now. OMG so much fun!!! As I was watching other fights today I was wondering should I train up to something like a Loki? I have close to 30m spell and not far off from flying t3 cruisers etc, basically about 3 weeks. But then the ship cost goes bananas. I couldn't get any fights today in my frig., everyone out and about were in cruisers. Should I train for a Loki/Legion type of ship just to get more action? Another thing I am wondering is should I join a PvP corp.? My time is limited now with work and family, lucky to get an hour or so a day, mostly that is taken with my market running, but I really would like to do some roaming and pvping with a group, to learn more and get some fight time in. Any suggestions? |

Where are you looking for fights?
If you try looking for fights near the FW home systems, in cal/gal that would be Nisuwa/Nennamaila/Deven/Heydielies/Tama and go into a novice plex, you'll find plenty of frigate pvp. |

Getting blobbed, and knowing how to avoid it when possible, is part of the game. It's something you have to learn, a skill you have to pick up.
Arcano Dentist, you should try one of the following options: E-UNI, Brave Newbies, T.R.I.A.D., Fweddit, CSC or RVB. Either of these options will get you into lots of fights, solo and otherwise, faster than you can press F1.
Avoid the Loki idea till you've figured out how to avoid being blobbed. Stick to frigs, dessies, cruisers. Indigently pwning indifferently. Some sucker buy me a Naglfar. http://www.localectomy.blogspot.com.au

Most of those are pretty terrible =/
Just go kill stuff in a frig for a bit and join a semi decent low sec pirate/fw corp. Stay away from the huge ones imo, they don't culture personal skill. BYDI (Shadow cartel) Recruitment open!

The best way to learn is to lose 50 t1 ships(frigs and dessie soloing in lowsec. Learn something new each time. If you're not sure why you lost, ask your killer "what do?" Enlisting in fw gets you money while you're learning. Seriously, the solo PvP crash course really is the best way to learn. Its rough, but when you get good you will be *really* good, and there's plenty of other noobs in fw, so youll get some relatively fair fights. Plus learning how to deal with blobs is part of the game, and you'll love yourself for taking the hard road later.
Just last night I was out soloing in a rifter, when I engaged and caught a slicer, as he was going down two td condors warped in. They were cocky, so I slingshotted and killed one of them. The third fled. They were pretty bad, but you won't learn how to deal with **** like that in E uni, a blobby fw corp, or RvB(although I'm not sure about this one. RvB pilots know their ****). But you will also lose many ships with no one to blame but yourself. Last week I lost an artillery wolf to an afterburner merlin. Entirely my fault, but I learned a lesson: don't fly kite fits after 3am without caffeine.
Anyways, be a man. Fly solo. This Space Intentionally Left Blank |

Join Caldari FW, load up 120 breachers into a JF (Use Black Frog if you don't own one) and ship them to Okkamon. Then go lose them all in Nisuwa so chatgris can improve his Battleclinic rating.

It's all been said - T1 frigates, lowsec FW, plexes. Learn how to brawl, kite in scram range and kite in disruptor range with the race(s) of your choice.
You will lose a lot but should learn from each fight, including how to manipulate a poorly organised group to avoid getting blobbed. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

Truth, with a caveat: Smaller ones tend to rely on links, sometimes quite heavily, which may come back and bit you when links are changed.
Important bit when starting out is to find someone who is willing to take you under their wing, someone you can ask silly questions and is willing to share the nuggets that oftentimes make all the difference in close fights. You can however get away with going it solo and then asking those questions of the people who murder you and/or are murdered by you, but the responses are far from friendly at times dependent on circumstances.

The answer is yes.
Plenty of corps, especially mine, understand that people have IRL commitments and are pretty laid back about activity level.
We just advertise a few weekly ops and beyond that people are left to go soloing/pve-ing/whatevering.
I could never be arsed with calls-to-arms and all that regimented bull tbh.

Same say it's a lifestyle choice - Others say they were just born that way. Either way, it's unnatural to be one of you. Fix this **** See Sea Pea. |

If you only get a few hours a day then FW is fun. Just remember your faction standings to the opposing side will take a big hit. Easy and boring enough to fix. If you get a few extra hours on the weekend and want to go have some carefree fun, join the RVB ganked channel, they have open roams on the weekends.. its all just crazy fun. Agony has a decent course if you need to get to know the mechanics and want to have a taste of fleet work, beware though, Greygal will make sure you don't have to fly back to High Sec.. both RVB and Agony offer casual roams that are great fun. You could just jump right into Null, also great fun. FW and Null offer easy ways to make isk to cover your blood lust You could also just make a new alt and throw it in RVB for some quick daily action. Oh PLEASE!!! CCP Fozzie Can I haz a Navy moa....... |
