Dear story nuts, near and far,
After much cajoling and convincing by fiction-conscious members of our community, weÆve decided to cave in and set up a pipeline between the EVE Library and the official Chronicles. A lot of good stuff has come through this forum, in many cases good enough for publication on our site.
Our primary reason for refraining from taking this path in the past has been that once something was posted under the header of ôfan fiction,ö the feeling was that subsequent publication under an official header would serve to undermine the officially official officialityness of the backstory. However, as seas should refuse no river, weÆve decided that opening the door to this possibility is a good thing and not a bad thing.
Be aware, though, that our requirements remain stringent. Only a fraction of the material posted here will see publication, just as only a fraction of the material sent to story@eve-aurora ever gets published. If we see a story here that weÆre interested in, we will contact its writer well in advance to make them aware weÆre interested in publishing their story. After that, given the authorÆs consent, a period (generally 1-2 weeks) of artwork creation and editorial ping-pong takes place, after which the final piece will see publication on our web site. Upon the storyÆs publication, the original story in the thread will be replaced with a link to the Chronicle page.
Our primary source of Chronicle submissions will remain the [email protected] address, but we want to ensure that some of the better works posted here are not excluded by default merely out of being posted as fan fiction. A good contribution is a good contribution, deserving of recognition no matter where itÆs posted.
Feedback and comments welcome.

Edit: Just a thought, maybe update your first post too when you select something from here showing the link to the chronicle and the author name/publication date etc. Sort of like an archive or wall of fame. ------

This is very good news. There are some pretty decent writers lurking around these parts and it's a shame not to use them. They already do much to enhance the Eve experience and skimming the best work here and making it official can only be a good thing.
It also means that budding writers have something to aim for. They have an incentive to improve their writing. The first step can be publishing here in the Library or self-publishing on a website and linking from here. After that, there's the possibility of writing something deemed good enough for the chronicles (or E-ON?) to aim for.

Awesome. Just Awesome. Gnauton rocks. Many of the writers in here deserve the recognition for the excellent stuff they've writen, and it will be nice to be able to have some stuff become official PF sort of fiction, so it can be refrenced and whatnot. ------------------ Silver Night Director -Production and Science Help the State, Make tens of millions! Well... one thing that would be interesting (although it would increse your workload and with Red Moon and Kali that is sure like a hundred tons already), is to have some direction on what you guys think we players could help giving some "filler".
Perhaps if you were to give us some rough limits we could "fill in the blanks" for you.
For example: -Talocans / Sleepers -The new Kali races -what was going on in Caldari by the time of the Raata.
If you tell us something like, for example,
"ok guys:
-dont even dream about messing with the new Kali races 'cos we've got'em covered;
-before the Raata the Caldari were in the stone age so if you wanna write about that period use 'The Clan of the Cave Bear' as inspiration but bear in mind Caldari Prime is (tropical world / a sea world with lotsa isles / a whole huge continent in the ice age / ...)
-the Talocan and Sleepers, we only have what you see on skills description; feel free to expand (but of course we get to chose whatever we want, or nothing at all!)"
Or just perhaps saying "well kiddies, we need very short backstories for the descriptions of the (next t2 ships / the titans / tier 3 battleships), here are the names and some pointers, make me proud of having made that sticky on The Library"
That may, perhaps, allow your slave crew of fan-fiction writers wannabes to focus on things that you may actually find helpful.
(Or perhaps it would be a nigtmare so never mind about it!)
Shorter version of the above: you the boss around here, anything in particular you may want to read about?

"The Science of Never Again," our longest Chronicle to date, is around 2.200 words in length, and it's just about at the point where we'd want to start thinking about splitting it up into two pages. Since we have a fairly set idea about the way we want to present our Chronicle pages, we'd rather reserve the multiple-page deal for the other fiction sections. Chronicles generally are intended to be shorter and more tightly focused, so 2000 words is probably a good guideline.
There is always the possibility of exceptions if a piece of work is particularly outstanding, though, so don't structure your stories too much around word count. I don't want to see the longer stories or the serials, both of which constitute some of this forum's best work, disappearing in favor of Chronicle-hopeful submissions only.
Originally by: Soratah Would this include the Scientific articles section as well?
It's possible at some point in the future, but for now we're just going to go with Chronicles. Short Stories and Scientific Articles have traditionally been written only by those who have had work published on our site before, either as Chronicle writers or Interstellar Correspondents.
I imagine if we opened a submission pipeline for short stories and scientific articles at some later date, it would likewise be open only to those already published in some form. It is a significantly greater investment of time and effort to write a short story than a Chronicle-length story. Not only does it take us longer to go over it and determine its merit, but the fall is also much greater for those who might have their stories rejected. So for the time being, Chronicles it is.
