But I take it that Minmatar ships are no longer the default "go to" ships is many circumstances like they once were, given the teiricide stuff that's been going on, correct?
It seems like small gangs of Frig - BC level stuff seem to be more mixed then they used to be. Are Min ships still good but just not quite as good as they used to be? |

It's not that Minnie ships aren't as good as they used to be, more that every other race has been buffed up to be in line with them.
Rifter is no longer the King of T1 Frigs but is still extremely versatile, as is the Rupture. Minmatar ships are mostly jack of all trades, master of none.
The party line is, other races do it better, but Minmatar can do it all. http://chasingtheblueflash.blogspot.com/

One of the main reasons for Minmatar supremacy is that most pilots in EvE are risk averse, because of this many ran Minnie shield kiters so you could pick your targets and kill targets that you can easily kite and run away from those that you can't.
Now with Gallente being brought closer in terms of speed and general buffs across the board for other ships means that this isn't so easily achievable, but most Minmatar ships are still very useable. |

Minie are as good as they used to be, difference being the other races ships are better than they were before and this is good. Some T2 ships lost their tr+ál+ál+á status because of tiericide but it's a matter of time before CCP takes a look at those and they get revamp too.
Strong points: agility, speed, selectable dmg, good dmg projection/application, generous slots layout and bonus
Bad points: for some people who used to love call other idiots because they couldn't fly minmatar, this just made them even worst, bad bitter and pollute threads with their rage.
If you're already training Minmatar just go for it, the overall strong points compensate a lot and are still a huge advantage in groups over many other ships as these stats are what you're looking for in pvp no matter if it's a space ship or any thing else.
They're not the best anymore at everything?-yes
Is Minie a good race to train for? -absolutely
Plus you have access to the best faction ships in the game like Angels or Serpentis. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

Same here up to command ships and overall yeah, I fly Minie but when it comes to kill red crosses I actually choose Calamari or Wallente. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

Personally I think rust wins there too. Mael is prob the most durable and flexible (1400 and 800mm fits) of the tech1 non-faction battleships. Then you step up to a mach and vOv why fly anything else. |

I try to fly all races for frig/cruiser classes but end up going back to minnie for some reason.
I like the flexibility they have in their fitting and engagement profiles. They are definately the jack of all trades - master of none now that the other races have been balanced out.
If you like minnie, fly minnie.
PS Ignore Garv about the rifter it still is a cool ship to fly and will get you more fights now cos most people think it is crap now. That is the Way, the Tao. Balance is everything.

I started in 2007 and back in the day, and for a few years when new pilots came into this forum asking for Caldari pvp setups people would say
caldari pvp success
choose two
Who is laughing now?!
p.s. sorry I hijacked your minnie thread, I fly some of those rustbuckets and they are still ok. |

A bit like Brutixes everyone agrees on the fact those can spew tremendous amounts of dmg but the engagement range envelope is so little chances things turn bad are really huge. However I still think if some decent FC with good probing characters in the system, good dictor and logi pilots uses this cheapo throwaway hard hitting beasts they can succeed quite well and actually win isk wars rather than number of kills.
A well skilled gallente pilot with a shield Brutish can dish over 1k dps without much effort, it's really really huge for a BC. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

It depends on hull size/gun size. Gun range increase as they get bigger, point range stays the same. Medium ACs will still reach post TE nerf, medium blasters, which reaches before, are in trouble. And yes, Gallante is still slower than Minmatar.
This is just like something CCP would do - hamfisted nerf that misses the mark and breaks more things than it fixes. A simple speed nerf to Matari alone would fix everything, but instead, we get this. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

I have to admit that since last big changes I have flown mostly Amarr, because Minmatar ships really suffered a lot. But I think the next change will correct this again. Firetail will get significantly buffed, Scythe Fleet Issue looks great on paper with the new stats. And even the new Typhoon looks very promising to me (even though there is no usuage for it in FW due to lack of large plexes). |
