I have not played in many years but a buddy and I are starting again. Is there some starting point I can look at to formalize myself with how to play? or do I have to start from scratch? I am open to any suggestions. I looked at the game and while I remember a lot of it, I have no idea how to defend myself or complete missions.
For instance my Moa used to have missile turret and now if can not have them anymore? |

Fit F12...you can redo the tutorials and visit the closest career agents again to get yourself back in the game. When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Request to CCP: Please patch stupidity out of the game for Winter 2013. Professional Forum Thread locker. |

The f12 tutorial worked great, I am starting to remember all my past knowledge. I think I will stick with a relatively new character for a while as I learn the ropes (or relearn them :) Thanks guys

No point just boot up your old character then you wont have to re-learn everything! Like eveyone suggested just do the tutourials! |

as the other posters have said, the tutorials will run you through the absolute basics and you can do them in multiple systems, you can get a list of the starter systems from the Evelopedia linked at the top, just search for Starter Systems or Tutorial Agents.
A good reference for everything else (except PvP, which is supposed to be Vol. 2) is Isk The Guide Volume 1, a free 400 page pdf :

I think I learned more about the game from the Sisters epic "Blood stained stars" then I did from the tutorials. Maybe look into that when you get your feet under you. I think its actually designed to be run in a team, 2 frigates helping one another and doing the arc simultaneously would be a great way to look around New Eden and get up to speed. As J'Poll mentioned just redo the tutorials: That will give you a great opportunity to get used to the game mechanics and familiarize yourself with the changes to the game.
Also, note, that with the coming expansion there will be additional changes to scanning.

Evewhiran I found you! Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of not knowing. |
