Today I read an official post that seemed quite schizophrenic in nature. Early in the post it said that in regards to ship skill changes that "if you could fly it before could will be able to fly it after". But then later in the post I read that freighters are having their industrial requirement reduced and its Advanced Spaceship Command increased to 5.
Seems like those statements conflict with one another. I wish I had spent those last two ranks of my racial industrial toward Adv spaceship command

Ok I'll bite anyhow.
In order to fly a freighter the only skill that MATTERS is the freighter skill.
In order to put the skillbook into your queue for the first time you need to satisfy the prerequisites.
Once you have trained the skill, the prerequisites have no bearing on the ability to fly a certain ship. (although those skills may apply bonuses).
A good example are rigs. You need the proper skill to install a Rig. But even if you don't have the skills, you can have someone else install the rig for you. You will still get the benefits of the rigs, even if you did not have enough skills to actually install them. |

op the nested requirements for the freighter skill are not required to fly the ship, only to inject the skillbook
you're not the first to be confused by this, so no worries |

They're not contradictory.
If you can fly it now, you can fly it after Odyssey.
If you can't fly it now, you may have different requirements to train before you can fly it after Odyssey. |

Basically: if you've got the skill in place when Odyssey drops, they won't take it away from you for lack of prerequisites. Of course, if you end up getting a skill blown out of your head because you forgot to update a med-clone, I imagine it'll be a monumental stone [ahem] trying to get it retrained if you don't have the prerequisites lined up. What a relief. I've been able to fly my Fenrir for a whole three days. I was so sad when I read the requirements were changing. Glad it is a misunderstanding. |
