I never made that argument nor present it as a theory. Feel free to show me where I said, "newbies can't get into corps" ... please, go find it. Let's see if your search skills are as good as your strawman skills. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3111138#post3111138Adunh Slavy wrote:And CCP wonders why so many new players can't find corps and leave the game after a few months.
Forcing trust is not a good mechanic, let the awoxer earn his right, not just be handed to him. Ahem. (Emphasis Mine)
I'll note your omission, "many new players can't find corps". Your phrasing implies ALL NEWBIES. Which I clearly did not say.
That makes you a liar. |

Again I ask, what is lost by giving a director the ability to turn on or off a player's ability to shoot other corp members?

It's not an insult, you are being pedantic. There is no difference between "newbies can't get into corps" and "newbies can't find corps" - you are only arguing over a minor difference (and, on the contrary, he did not imply "all newbies") Twitter: @EVEAndski

In any case, your premise is false: a newbie who wants to get into a corp will find one. They might not get into one immediately because of the need for security, but simply removing awoxing isn't going to change that. Your end goal of making it easier to join corps won't happen, so you're just removing one consequence of bad corp management. That isn't good for the game. Twitter: @EVEAndski

So defending one's self against being misquoted is pedantic.

You were not misquoted, and it's wrong either way: if newbies are having a hard time finding corps, it has nothing to do with the risk that they are awoxers. They're just not even trying. Twitter: @EVEAndski

If you want awoxing to decrease you need to make it easier to kill people in highsec. I like the idea of quadrupling concord response time for NPC corp members. This post was loving crafted by a member of the Official GoonWaffe recruitment team. |

doesn't really make it easier, it just makes it cheaper.
and thinking about it, probably makes the skiff even less relevant than it already is. |

That makes you a liar.
My phrasing implies no such thing. Would you like to find where I claimed that you said "all newbies."
On the other hand, your defense based solely on your use of weasel words implies that you don't have any evidence for the statements you're making.
And again, BNI, E-Uni, and many other newbie friendly corps continue to allow newbies to join without collapsing. So, if you're worried about getting a newbie into a corp, send them over there if you're unwilling to help them yourself.
Regardless, you claimed that '[some number of] newbies cannot get into corps.' You further claimed that this was due to the possibility of AWOXing. The fact that BNI, E-Uni, et al. continue to thrive while accepting newbies shows how full of **** those claims are. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Yep, by your omission of the qualifier "many", as already stated.
If you say "cows are brown" this is a false statement since not all cows are brown. If you say "many cows are brown" then that is not a false statement. If I turn around and claim that you said "cows are brown", I am implying you meant all cows are brown.
I said "many" for a specific reason, you omitted it, you misquoted, on purpose, thus you're a liar, deal with it. |

So now I did it on purpose? And you're accusing me of lying, which implies some level of malice. Time to show proof of either. When I want to quote someone, I use the quotation feature. When I want to paraphrase, I use quotation marks to show that what I'm typing is not my idea.
However you want to take it (aside the fact that your use of the weasel word "many" renders the statement meaningless), I invite you to continue reading the post you just quoted (this time using special single quotes to make sure you don't get supermad):

RubyPorto wrote:You're asking for corp membership to not require trust. Your stated reason is to help newbies who can't otherwise get into corps and then leave the game. The existance of newbie friendly corps (and, incidentally, the ease with which AWOXers can get into random scrub corps) shows that that problem simply doesn't exist.
And even if awoxing was removed so that people can build up their newbie tax farms, the real corps would still have other concerns about recruiting randoms that would not be eliminated through removing awoxing. So it doesn't actually solve a problem and it ultimately just removes legitimate gameplay. Twitter: @EVEAndski

Followed by a description of lots of effort that isn't all that much fun. It's a game, not a job.
Did you even read the descriptions? It's how maybe a Corp might not lose a Corp to an awoxer. But, hey if it's too much effort for you, don't do it. The empirical probability of your ship being ganked is... good. |

Forgot to mention that you should try awoxing sometime. Get a feel for it. If you are one of those players who would rather not because of moral issues, then perhaps try it on a Corp that is one of your competitors; at least that way you have a reason for awoxing them.
There are several ways to go about an awox depending on what you want/who you are. I'm assuming you would rather not go too extreme so why not ransom their ships and let them go if they meet the ransom. This is typically the way I would go with it unless I just really don't like them. The alternative is of course ransoming for isk, receiving it (if they decide to pay) and blow them up anyways; a double whammy. And again if the Corp is your competitor, you should have the mindset as it's all fair game, because odds are they would do it to you if giving the choice, or opportunity.
Regardless, you'll gain some isk and set your competition back by a little bit as well. As well as gain some insight on the life of an awoxer. It's win, win.
Contact me in game if you're interested and I'll try to help point you in the right direction. The empirical probability of your ship being ganked is... good. |
