Agreed, it was pretty stupid to jump with such numbers, but you know how it goes... you can't tell people not to come defend their space
Funny thing I got an insurance mail (so I take it my ship went *poof*) while I was still tackling a BS for like 5 minutes
I hope we all get ships replaced this time, the GMs better take notice that the node died.

While later the vigil is locked. By which time there's a bunch more crap shooting me and i'm scrambled.

Well, i wasted my entire evening flying up North.
Can't say it was worth it.
Respect to the bob commanders for warping us in to fight despite it being 50 vs 110

CCP, do better then this, the northern nodes were crap before, during and after. Get better, or lose.
G, get better then this. You asked us for this fight. Wee give it to you, wait for you, come to you, and you callin Iron so you outblob us 2:1 ?
Iron, and especially Tysenus, get better then this. I log back in after getting booted after being stuck for ages, warp to a spot 500km from gate so i can coach my gangmates that are trying to log back through a dying node, ask you guys nicely to not come and pod me, noen fo your 110man blob does but you. You think it's funny to drive all those 400km anyway just to pod me so our people log in into nothing and dont know theyre sitting 300km from a gate full of hostiles to get killed.
I let you, cause I'm better then you.
So, still something of a rant.
Who won ? We did. I fnot by numbers, then by ballsize.
Our place next time, less lag down south. GG for our FC's btw. _______________________________________________

yes, and the firm winner of that fight was lag
'oh look, that guy got called primary - targetting now! no,wait, i can't'
'ok, allign ship! Damn you allign! no, can't do that either ....'
'ok, support approaching, its ok, they got me locked, but still 40Klicks away, i'll warp! no, that's off the menu as well'
ok, i'll just sit, here, unable to target anything, or allign, or warp out, and get my ****zle ruined! - ah! we have success!
Worst, fight, ever! Regardless of the 50 vs 114, we were all prepared to fight, etc, etc, and i wouldn't have minded getting blown up if i had been able to do any of the above things, basics such as targetting, alligning, warping .......... but no
Even with 165 people in a system slugging it out, i thought the srver upgrades were just put in to stop stuff like that happening?

Ok everybody here plz keep a calm temper.
Yes we had at least twice your numbers, we've been fighting in frigs and cruisers for the last 2 months and when we heard that you where up in our space with a real fleet, peopl started podding themselves to the nearest station simply to be part of a real Fleet fight again. Im sorry, but who am i to tell ppl that they arent allowed to fight cuz we're too many already. Appart from that i was in contact with Dianabolic all the time, i told him we had at least twice your numbers and asked if you guys still wanted to fight, he said yes so...
We jumped in on you (no big deal) the first 30 sec of the fight where halfway ok, then things started to simply stand still. People crashed, everything laged like hell, people started to log back in and its unavoidable that chaos is the result. We killed people at the gate that where logging back in, as did you. As soon as our leaders (G and IRON) where back ingame, we ordered everybody to SSs so that exactly these incedents dont happen. As far as i gathered it even worked out pretty good. Plz dont complain about 1-2 people acting out of line, it simply happenes, all in all, personaly I think it was a rather good display of respect on both sides.

Well I even woke up my gf to show her a real fleet battle. We both were all excited and stuff. Never been in a fleet like this before. 30 secs after the first BoB was in my overview the ship stoppped responding and kept flying and fyling and flying... Good thing we still could chat.
But my gf was like: Ooooooooookeyyyyyyyyyyyyy wtf is this supposed to be? Doesn't look like fun. And she went back to bed. :(

Sounds familiar. I ahd control for about 20-30 seconds after your support reached our position. By the time i was into armor I had lost all responses indeed.
Still, the podding thing happened after your guys already were leaving the gate and a ceasefire around it was declared. The pilot in question had a minute to think twice about why I would let him approach me from 400km so he could pod me and he had no seconds thoughts. He probably did not read local, but he did not exhibit much sense of proportion either.
Next time, you are pining for a fight like that and someone gives it to you, make the sitation clear beforehand to people like that please. I kind of dislike stuff like this when you are the enemies I probably most respect of all.

It was good fight on both sides, you can't blame everybody in G/IRON wanting to be part of it. It was all sweet until the lag kicked in, which made it lame as hell, but after the fight both sides agreed to clean up the mess after the node drop, bar few individuals.
So props to G/IRON FC, gg BoB, and hope to see you in south guys
At least we had a fight with people who don't mind fighting like men. Cheers.

True.
I'll retract my earlier comment about loss of respect then.
It's enjoyable to find people that are preapred to make certain agreements before a fight in situation like this, even if arranged warfare is not on my personal list of things-to-do-in-eve. We knew we had little hope of holding the ground post battle seeing our far fewer numbers. Hence you are probably one of the few groups we are willing to agree to this with.
I'd still do it again. But like I said, let's do it down south instead. I do hope we gained some respect for this tho, it would make it worth it. _______________________________________________

Seconded, is always a pleasure dealing with ya Bratzo. To be quite honest I don't think either of the command groups had any idea the lag would be as bad as it was (so bad that, in fact, I THINK I'm still alive. I think. *ahem*).

Bratzo, i don't think anyone on the BoB side were too worried about the numbers thing, we knew we were outnumbered, and everyone was happy to fight it! It's been so long since we had a big ol' slug fest that we were all more than happy to die 2:1 to the man. We had our top fleet commanders yelling at people, it all started off great! And moral was high.
The lag just REALLY ruined it , thats what i think most people are most upset about.

Please dont complain to me and especially directly point me out because you got podded. When you go into the center of hostile area to fight a battle you know damn well that thier is a chance of getting podded. Your attempt at trying to make me look bad has failed for if you wish to sit in you pod in the battlefield (or even near it) near my home space i will make every effort to get rid of it, its nothing personal its just the game and thats the way I play it. Well anyways I look forward to our next encouter and may you have better luck next time. (I am hoping that you guys can let us fly in for a fight and then escourt us out of your space unscathed too )

With that attitude we'll never be extending that courtesy to you. Next time, try following orders, rather than thinking you're the big man.
Hint: following orders wins u battles.
As for "allowing people to leave", we've done it before - but only with [g], because they deserve our respect, we've never broken our word to them and we never will. Your word, however, seems to be mud - thanks for pointing that out.

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 29/10/2005 15:36:23 Maybe pointing you out directly was too harsh Tysenus.
I indeed do not now wether you saw the request of mine in local to leave me be before you came out to me, nor the request by your own FC's to cease hostilities just before that.
My apologies.
Don't play the offended side here tho, this fight happened because we let it, numbers notwithstanding, and for no other reason. I expect some respect for that to our side, even tho it turned out less then succesfull for both sides due to server intervention so to say.
Anyway you are welcome to come our way for a new try. We won't even bring twice your numbers for it if you don't want us to. And of course, a fight arranged means an arranged departure too to some extent.
edit: also my apologies for my late night posts before this one. They were amde in the aftermath of the fight, when I still felt somewhat miffed by the fact that your side was unable to restrain some pilots, nor keep a check on the size of your gang. Thanks to dianabolic for making the decision to engage you anyway at those odds, if I had been leading you would not have fought on these terms. _______________________________________________

There was alot of mis-comunication. We as in DOFA were not told this was a prearranged battle. We got a call to arms saying incoming bob fleet. We responded to the call. As far as you talking in local, most of us dont look in local during battle especially when there is 100 + in local. when we get a call to defend or help defend we lock, kill, pod the enemy. My apologies from DOFA we were never told it was a pre-arranged battle. Looking forward to meeting u guys again in battle. We need to get better info next time.

Ok no I didnt see a thing in local about stopping hostilities. I also do know how to follow orders, even if they are totally rediculous like having to let you guys just walk out of our space, only because I have never had the same pleasure when I was in the center of hostile space, but thats not your guys call and I doubt that you were the ones asking for free passage either.
I do give you guys credit where due though in that you were outnumbered and you did come and engage regardless. I am just not one to believe that there is such a thing as a nice fight, you either win or you loose.
Sorry about the off topic "free passage thing" it obviously bugs the hell out of me after we all rounded up to come and help defend.

Ah ok. Clears some stuff up.
G already contacted us when we went into XZH on our way up. We went in looking for an easy target as one does on roadtrips like this, and they asked us to stick around to let them get a fleet sorted for a good fight.
We declined for the time being and went on to L-C and eventually H-W where we found friendlies and lag instead of shotiles. So we turned around, by which time Iron and G had made their fleet and were ready to engage, so we took a system and sat waiting for the jumpin.
Afaik, there was an open convo between G FC and our FC about all the time from us netering XZH to the engagement taking place, hence it being "arranged".
I can imagine the inclination to pod the crap out of anyone that comes onto your turf, I tend to act the same. But under the circumstances and seeing the reasonably unique given that the fight was arranged to happen rather then a result of a clash we didn't see coming, I expected no less then the usual G courtesy and professionalism.
And ofc, we got it. Pity about the lag.
I think we can conclude the subject btw. Maybe we gotta learn to make stuff like this clear for both sides right away next time. And ofc hope CCP gets those improvements going for you northern folk.

Hmmm, is that sig worthy, or maybe could be an exclamation...

Can't you guys come to Delve sometime? Last time we had a fleet fight with FA it was 150+ in system and lag was definately bearable.
