This, please. Better integration for new accounts is great and all, but something as simple as being able to use SSO through Steam with our current accounts would go a long way toward more people using this new stuff.
Also, any word on changes to Buddy Invites in regards to this? Currently if someone buys the game through Steam, their Buddy Invite isn't considered valid and the inviter gets nothing. I'd hope that with better integration between the two services that this is changed so buying through Steam is as valid a way to move from a 21 day trial to a paid account. This
I'd like EVE to take it's rightful place in my steam library with the other games I play regularly.
I'd like my steam friends to know when I am playing EVE and be able to be curious about it and find it on steam because of this.
(I realize these first 2 can be achieved somewhat by manually adding the game but it is not the same)
I'd like to be able to install EVE via steam like all my other games when I move to other computers.
Steam achievements would be nice.
I'd like to have an easy way to make my EVE screenshots public for my steam friends.
I'd REALLY like it if steam would background patch EVE for me like other steam games
Most importantly, I'd like this all to happen without me having to "buy" anything else. I've been subscribed to EVE longer than steam has been public so I would hope I would be included in the group of people considered to "own" EVE Lead, Follow, or Get the #@$!@ Out of the Way. |

This would be nice, except none of the new unified login stuff works for me (and some others). The login pages at login.eveonline, secure.eveonline, and community.eveonline just don't load. This includes the new launcher. The forums are the only place we CAN login anymore. What did you guys change about the login pages when you started messing with all this unified login stuff? I agree absolutely. What we are doing is offering the Steam users an easier path into the game compared to the way EVE was set up on Steam before, but we are not building any "exclusive" features for that platform.
Altaieere wrote:Can we meerge? Furthermore can we merge two eve accounts to one steam account and if we cannot do this now, when might we be able to?
Not at the moment. We want to evaluate the results of the initial implementation before making any next steps, which may take a while.

But is there any chance of making EVE free on Steam.
Really would like to move EVE under the Steam umbrella. But I'm not going to spend $20 just to do it
*Yes, I know there's the 'Demo'. But it's unclear if that's setup differently...say for Play-time Tracking. Plus, I just don't like seeing 'Demo' in my game library.
Really do like the suggestion that "/My Documents/EVE/"-folder be backed up to the Steam Cloud. Maybe even full Steam integration where the Screenshots are uploaded to Steam's screenshot storage. - rember I haven't used EVE one Steam...so I don't know if it all ready does that. |

My first account/character (Atacdad) was purchased and set up under Steam in Sept. 2008. Steam was quickly left behind and I prefer the direct download/install. I would see Steam as having an advantage (and I would use it) if I can purchase game time and plex via Steam and avoid the international currency charges I have to pay now because the current transactions originate overseas. I don't believe this affects what CCP makes in income, but it saves me a few dollars per transaction.

As a pretty regular Steam user (sheesh since 2003) I think that this is a nice thing to have the integration finally "real."
What I'd like to see in the future (in no particular order): * Steam in-game overlay functions (screenshots, video, etc) - MUST NOT conflict with other frequently used overlay programs (e.g. TeamSpeak3, Mumble, etc) * Community Hub and Workshop tie-ins (think Alliance and Corp logo submission processes, ship skin submission processes, Lore submission processes, etc) * Ability to manage/authenticate more than one EVE account (since this wouldn't be too terribly helpful if the EVE Account authentication was tied to a single Steam Account) * Possible Steam Sale incentives related to Power of Two, PLEX, Aurum, etc. * Dust Account tie-ins as well (since it's possible to login to Steam from PS3) ** Buddy Invites via Steam account activation would be huge as well as it's currently missed (as has been mentioned) * Possibility to leverage the Steam Groups function for alliance/corp communications/forums/announcements/events with hooks into the EVE API for Corp/Alliance calendars etc

Nice work!
I know it will be of interest to someone inside CCP, so here's a bit of market data for you: I have a Steam account and "a number of" EVE accounts (more than 1). I would be interested in an account amalgamation which allows me to combine any of my accounts into one other account, such as say a few of my EVE accounts into a Steam account. Amalgamating my accounts into a Steam login would be especially attractive if there was a way select a group of characters to open EVE clients for, such as my mining fleet versus my mission running fleet versus my market operations fleet.
I have bought stuff on Steam (a bunch of Mac OS X games, including Portal and Portal 2) and have bought stuff on the Apple App Store too (including things like OmniFocus which are big ticket items in the iOS App Store). That is to say: I spend money through these stores, though I have not yet bought PLEX to sell for ISK.
I play almost exclusively on OS X (though there is that piano-black Medion laptop I bought because I wanted to run more characters at once).
Hope that helps someone. Day 0 advice for new players: Day 0 Advice for New Players |

As much as this is a great step forward, implementation limited to people who buy the game today seems a bit.. disappointing. I noticed when the subscription offers were added to the database and was chomping at the bit to have Steam handle the billing.
I'm fully aware I'm being impatient, but damn it... Been around (with two accounts off and on) since 2005 and I'd love to be able to test additional Steam integration. What kind of "performance" tests are being done anyway? The number of people who use Steam to manage subscriptions and buy PLEX, or is it just a check on the performance of steam-based logins?
With EvE being a bit long in the tooth (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just means it's a great game), I'm a bit concerned that if the performance being measured is in subscription increases this may not continue. |

Ohh, so this! It's always a pain to have to reconfigure my overview every time I install EVE (or have to re-install, for various reasons). I know we can back it up via xml, but it's not a complete backup, and I occasionally forget. I also love the idea of potentially being able to trade Steam items for PLEX.
Aside from that, I'm glad you're finally integrating the two. I've been playing EVE through Steam since I started playing. |

What I DO like about this is that I would gladly drop Paypal so I can purchase game time through steam, although I see that currently you only have the recurring payment option. I would only use it if I could do an one-time payment. ( Although I would prefer to pay with bank transfer directly through account management )
Also, please don't do steam achievements, I don't like achievements. What would they be anyway? Finish 1000 lvl 4 missions, Kill 10 000 rats in belts, succesfully awox 10 corps, scam 50 people, Mine till you drop ( 6 hours straight ) ... |

This is great news! If it's any comfort, it seems I'm having zero issues taking screenshots using Steam, and was able to upload them to my Steam cloud, as well, so that portion is at least working.
EDIT: As far as using the Steam Workshop, I think a great addition for ease-of-downloading would be to allow people to post Overlay settings for download. These are always handy for new players, and having them readily available in a central location would be immensely beneficial. "This is our way of wisdom, warrior. To be true. To be full. So to ensure I'm reading this correctly, we'll have to pay for a new account through steam to be able to purchase plex through steam? Would opening a new account through a trial on steam count? If not any idea how soon we might be able to purchase plex through steam without having to buy another account?
Reason I'm so interested is that I've got around $300 sitting in steam from selling off dota2 crap I traded for when playing that heavily. Don't really buy a whole lot of games so I'd love to be able to just turn this into plex.
Always nice to have better integration, I had bought Eve through steam previously but as other people have said I very quickly just started using the standard launcher. Not a whole lot of interest in going back to using steam unless there was some support for multiple accounts / better launching of multiple characters etc.
edit: also if i don't want to wait and currently have eve attached to my steam account can i still buy the started pack to be eligible to buy plex? |

Downsides of Steam.
1. Disallows multiple accounts logged in at the same time from one computer. It would be disastrious if Steam was forced just because of this reason. 2. If you are banned from one thing on Steam, you immediately are banned from everything. i.e. if a payment dispute occurs for eve, you lose all your games and account 3. Steam support queue times directly compete with petition time. EVE's petition times might actually be shorter. 4. The old Steam EVE builds had many issues with patches and updates. Many times the launcher could not update itself correctly or the system before the launcher could not find the folders correctly.
I also hope the Steam Overlay doesn't give incentive to remove the IGB. The IGB is incredibly useful with its elementary API and usage. Though it SEVERELY needs a upgrade to the latest Awesomium. |

Since I already have Eve on Steam it won't let me purchase the bounty hunter starter pack so that I can access the PLEx purchase option. Is there a way to remove Eve from my owned games so that I can buy the starter pack? I'd love to give you all this money if I can just find a way lol. |

You won't have to worry about this last bit, I'm almost positive, since the subset of players who use Steam to play EVE is probably pretty low, and they aren't moving the client exclusively to the platform. Nope. Part of the problem too is that if you buy the edition they're selling now, you'd have to make a new account for it to work. There is no current method to combine an existing account to Steam. |

The publicity of a $5 Sale of EVE Online on Steam is what brought me to this game. Steam starts when my computer starts and only closes when my computer shuts down. It uses very few resources especially when minimized to the system tray (~23MB of RAM and virtually no CPU). I run 4 EVE Online clients at max settings simultaneously with Steam in the background and I have no issues with performance (I have 6GB of RAM). I can only launch 1 client from Steam; the rest I launch from "..\Eve Online\bin\ExeFile.exe" from a Shortcut on my Desktop. So that mean's I only get the Steam Overlay on 1 client which kinda sucks but I am just so happy that I have the Steam Overlay at all.
I would love to integrate my current EVE Online accounts or at the very least, one of them with Steam. I look forward to the day when that is possible.
I understand why CCP would be hesitant to promote purchasing PLEX or subscriptions through Steam as Steam takes a % of all money that goes through it; whereas, they get all of it if you purchase directly through CCP. So I understand why they have limited it to only new accounts purchased through Steam at this time. Still, I hope one day it is possible to manage all of my account subscriptions and game launching directly through Steam.
One final thing, the gameplay tracking and friends list on Steam is a huge social marketing opportunity. I have had 3 or 4 friends that saw me playing EVE Online on their friends list and messaged me about it wanting to learn more about EVE. It was a great opportunity to educate them and hand them a Buddy Invite. |

i bought my EvE in Steam a while ago, principally because i was able to use another currency without a international credit card. And for that reason i still using only Steam to get my games. It will be wonderful see the plexes or the GTC in there.
But i wonder, i'm using the same e-mail in EvE and in Steam, in the case of a possibility to unite the accounts, this will not create a conflict?
Steam creates greats opportunity to sell things like package of customizations like clothes, but i believe the workshop cannot be used in EvE, just don't make sense a sandbox game using exclusively tools. It will be deadly to the game if we can start take ships there with real money. And players making customization in workshop will only be viable if the changes affect only themselves, or the game will be turned into a "Pimp my Ride" series.
Well, sorry for the bad english.

I'm glad to see this getting some momentum. Seems like more MMOs are reinvesting in Steam, even while they're also exploring other platforms (PWE/Arc, etc.) I'm sure it will be a good challenge to get it all working the way people want to manage multiple accounts. |

does this mean eve online will be available on the steam box? That might just make me buy one so I can play eve from the couch without having to drag a computer into the living room and wrestle with a keyboard/mouse... It would also give an option to the console kiddies who don't like gaming at their desk or dealing with upgrading their computers and troubleshooting/all that other garbage... Of corse, if you are going to put eve on consoles, rolling out a client for the PS3/4 seems like a no-brainer too... |

Midweek Madness: 75% off EVE in Steam Store
But....not entire sure I want to buy it since I can't use anything that comes with that pack....
Shush, until you Youtube a video of you burning a $5 USD bill. Because, that's essentially what I'd be doing. None of the items in the Amarr Starter Pack are interesting..some of them I can't even transfer and use (Booster). The rest I all ready have.
I don't want to hear about how "five dollars isn't much".
I also would like to wait...in hopes that CCP eventually figures out a way to allow us to save our UI.
....apparently that's a "tuffy". (lulz) *The 'EVE' folder in My Documents does not appear to save UI configs (window locations, window sizes, etc). I believe that folder is down in AppData. But ya...dig there when CCP could, at the very least, make a standalone program that will search out all the save locations they use.
People gonna say why should they, no other company does.
To that I say. Correct.
Because other companies either switched to server-side UI layouts (LOTRO) -OR- keep the UI layouts in a folder inside the main game folder (World of Warcraft). I've yet to play a game where the company hides the location of where the UI layout is saved.
Disclaimer: I haven't done a Settings Transfer in about 4 yrs. And at that time I didn't get the UI Config files and had to rebuild the layout...I mistakenly thought they'd be in the My Documents 'EVE' folder. |

Honestly ya shoulda kept this release until it was ready. Having plex & subscriptions for sale through steam but not letting people who already purchased the game through steam take advantage of any of these options is just irritating. Shouldn't release half-finished stuff imo, especially sucks when it's some really nice convenient new thing but it's only for new people and not your existing playerbase. |

You've to have an account with ccp to active the buddy programm trial and when you buy the steam through steam it creates also a new account?! You can't because you can't get Steam to register a new purchase to an existing account. Besides Steam Keys were never a "approved" method to activate buddy accounts for referral rewards. I've lost two or three referral months because of that technicality.
Quote:Notice: Monthly subscription fee required after first month. Product keys will not work with existing EVE Online accounts. Subscriptions & PLEX can only be purchased by users that own the EVE Online - Starter Pack.
This stupidly includes trial accounts as well.
There's some major problems going on with this, more and more people are fleeing these purchases and going to other stores that are matching Steam's sale (that's not a huge problem for CCP), but there's also a group of people that are getting frustrated because they're getting no answers and no help with their registration problems with the impression that the are now losing subscription time due to Steam/CCP's screwups.
I can't help them because veterans aren't permitted to participate yet and this whole thing is so new that nobody has any answers. All Points Bulletin: Reloaded made it work pretty flawlessly when they started it up, I'm not sure what's making this so difficult. They are frustrating new impressionable customers here and are at a huge risk of losing not only future subscription fees from these guys (and PLEX), but at risk of generating a negative reputation in Steam Community circles.

For those with existing steam accounts who wanted to use the new features. It is possible to setup a new account through steam to purchase plex etc. Steam customer support was able to remove my old purchase of steam from my account. This does not seem to have impacted that eve account which is still active. I was then able to purchase the new starter pack and purchase the plex packages I had wanted to. Of course I've now got another account that I don't really want and had to pay $20 for but eh. Suppose if ya'll at CCP wanna be awesome you could just send me a plex :)
Obviously kind of a fringe scenario as I suspect most people don't have a decent chunk of money just sitting in steam and nothing to do with it but worked for me. Didn't have any issues making the new account was smooth as could be. Have had multiple instances of the launcher reporting steam authenication failed and having to relaunch/close steam etc before it worked again.
Anyhow all is good now, and CCP don't forget I'm happy to give you back the 30 days of gametime on this account for a plex for my other accounts :) well after i move the plex i bought anyhow. |

I disagree with the following statement. I don't want to flame here, I'm just expressing my opinion here.
"CCP Spitfire at 30.05.2013 18:02 " wrote:I already bought EVE on Steam, why canGÇÖt I use the new features?
Initially the new features will be rolled out to new users only. Once we evaluate the feedback and data from the first stage of the program, we will look at taking the next steps and adding new features to the integration. EVE Online subscription and PLEX packages on Steam are priced in the exact same way as on our own website, so all players are on equal footing regardless of the way they pay for their subscriptions. I am from Brazil and Steam have differentiated prices for US, to adjust it to our reality. The same way CPP adjusts EVE subscription to 15 USD/EUR based at from where the player are, they do the same. EVE subscription are 25 BRL at Steam (~ 11 USD at this date), and the US Dollar is rising astronomically here. 15 USD are 33,91 BRL! US Dollar already rised more than 10% this year, and does not seem that it will turn down so quickly. We here are afraid that it will reach 1 to 2,5 so turning EVE subscription really expensive...
Said that, PLEASE, let us pay through Steam, or if the drawback of sharing a slice of proffit with Steam is not nice, differenciate the price for us. I really like this game and have fun with it, but it is turning into an really expensive hobby. I know that it is not CCP's fault, but it would be lovely to have you guys to care about us. Even Blizzard do that for us, can you please do that too?
Hope you read it, and hope you consider it. |

Creating a new account on Steam is free. So if there will be a "superior end user experience" on Steam anybody would have free access to it. Second, if Steam wants money to let me merge my account I will gladly pay a PLEX just for that.

I just bought Eve via Steam and Steam EVE integration sucks. At least give us a way to at log in via the normal method. A CCP Alias login name would be a nice resolution. I wanted to run a fleet of 8 or more and here I am stuck with one account and I cannot even buy a normal account and transfer my Steam character to that. Log in through steam only is dumb and limiting. I figure you don't need my $120+ a month, but I can't be the only one that wanted to use multiple accounts. |
