Before I post my new lil story I really feel I have to point out a couple of things.
Firstly it's a story, based on events recently but from MY perspective.
Secondly it's a bit of fun, i like writing when i'm wasted and it should be treated as that. Just a story and not a political statment of any kind and thus doesn't invite a dialogue about the Razor alliance or it's aims/goals.
Sorry to have to this but it takes the fun out of writing if pilots take it out of context. ---------------------------------------------- We can't all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by |

I looked outside of my ship, the blur of stars, planets and other orbital items accentuated by the strange warped effect looking out of a pod gave a pilot. Another system, another war, another enemy....
We had recently decided to join some old comrades in arms in a distant and strange part of the Eve universe. The move from Syndicate painful, but a necessary part of the healing process for the Octavian Vanguard. The fact we were moving to fly alongside friends dulled the pain somewhat as we are a proud group of pilots, but all agreed to it and saw it as a step in the right direction.
The ethos surrounding Cutting Edge Inc. and Blades corporation mirrored the values OV had always held to, that of anti pirate. They believed in a free Pure Blind region and had their share of opponents to this ideal. After the help they offered in Syndicate we thought it was time we reciprocated and moved north to join them.
Shortly after we arrived an alliance was formed between CEI and Blades, it's beliefs once again mirrored our own, it's goals achievable and the people behind it trustworthy to the last. The invitation came and we joined at the earliest opportunity, we now belonged to the Razor alliance!! Operations in the area we occupied began immediately, our pilots quickly becoming accustomed to the strange voices on the comms channel and the different ways the battle was being taken to the enemy. We also made some new friends along the way, always a bonus.
The main threat came from an large group of pilots from the ASCN alliance. They lived far down south but for some reason saw fit to blockade the entry point to Pure Blind and shoot anyone that came through the gate into empire space. The history behind this was immaterial as well as somewhat grey. We went out and engaged them where we could, they however were reluctant to bring the fight to us unless the numbers were far in their favor. Their use of safe empire space as a hiding ground became an irritant, not just to us but to G and Iron, also northern alliances and ones we were friends with.
G and soon after the IRON declared war on ASCN, they needed to take the fight to them in empire and remove the safety of high security space. Razor debated whether to follow suit but decided against it, thinking hitting them on their own turf a necessity and crippling their mining and production lines a must. And so we planned.....

Once it was granted i punched the launch button the familiar thrust of my small but agile ship never ceasing to raise a smile on my lips. Setting my destination I swiftly moved to the first jump point. Five minutes later I entered 0.0 space and immediately switched to combat mode, wary of everyone and everything but this was the buzz of combat. Who knew what lay through the next gate except those that may be laying in wait, intent on making this a short trip for me, serious in exerting as much violence on my frail ship as possible.
But the real battlefield lay many jumps ahead so onward I sped, the darkness of space enveloping my ship as I once again I entered warped..... ---------------------------------------------- We can't all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by |

The trip to 68FT was an eventful one, the gate camp was broken in seconds, the enemy surprised by the speed and ferocity of the attack, ran quickly. But not before they lost 2 battleships and an escort, the battle had begun and we had struck the first blow!! Other surprised hostile pilots were encountered en-route and a similar swift and merciless end was dealt to all. Pod after pod appeared in the overview and where possible was sent on a short trip back to the cloning facility, those that got away no doubt breathing a sigh of relief that lady luck had smiled on them that dark evening.
My mind was brought back to the present in a sudden jolt, my comms channel squawked as our CEO came up on the holovid screen...
'Where the hell are you Hept? We need to get some numbers out there tonight, the enemy are starting to get a little ballsy with us recently. Time to teach them a lesson pilot!' He shouted at the display.
I grinned to myself, relishing the thought of more combat. 'just picked up the new guns boss and en-route to the staging sector now' I replied.
'Good, hope they do a better job than the last lot, well what's left of them anyway. Tech 2 guns don't grow on trees and expect more from an experienced fighter' he grumbled...
I had made a fatal error engaging an assault frigate 2 nights ago, the sort of error that can cost lives and shouldn't have happened if I had been properly focused.
'Well these are a lot bigger boss, so hopefully they won't get a chance to get too close to me' I quipped
'Uhuh yea right.... look cut the BS and get your ass back in hostile territory ASAP!'
I sensed the tension in his voice as he clicked the holovid off, the responsibility of running a corp. was a large one, running one during a war was a huge one as peoples lives and livelihoods lay on the line. As a director i shared some of the burden, but ultimate responsibility lay with the CEO and it was by him we were all judged, Tar Om was a little strange in some respects, none more so than his love of anything lard based, but as a CEO he was well liked and respected by all the corp.
'Destination reached, autopilot deactivated' rang in my ears as the automatic navigation system informed me I had reached the staging area.
I quickly docked my ship and unloaded it's precious cargo into my hangar. I looked through the service area window and looked at my pride and joy, the sleek but slim lines of my battleship hiding the death that could rain down on an unsuspecting foe. Engineers laser torches creating a whirlpool of color on its hull as they repaired a damaged vessel.
'You guys should learn to look after your ships better!' I shouted across at Nareau and Mugatus two fellow OV pilots. A broad grin broke out on my face as they both turned quickly, ready to defend against the accusation.
'Git!' Muga shouted as soon as he saw me.... 'back from keeping your ass safe in empire so soon Heppy?'
'Thought we wouldn't see you for a while after your performance the other night' he shot back quickly.
Another reference to my recent loss hit a little harder than it should, but I knew these guys meant no malice and so just swallowed my pride and just beamed back.
'Well I finally got my baby parked up here with some shiny new guns so let's see how they deal with this little number!
They both chuckled and returned to inspecting the work being carried out on their respective battle weary ships.
I decided to head out quickly, changed into my interceptor I reported in and requested undocking permission.

A true
RAH!
indeed for this awesome story! Reminds me of the amazingly good fan fiction from JumpGate days!
OV use to be my primary war targets (I was Sol Legion and Royal Guard) back in the JG days and use to nuke off alot of them outside Outpost station and Wake...
Also welcome to the north :)

Heh. It still sometimes gives me a bit of a weird feeling when I think about us ( Black Hand ) being the best buddies with OV. *grin*
It's not unheard of, though, we flew together ( or should I say, did not shoot at each other ) during the early days of the universe we used to live in.
Good story, Hept. :) -------------------
