My corp has entered a war with another.
And tonight we found one of their people outside a space station. Here is a log that follows the battle .

I want to know the answer to these few questions.
1) Why did we take a security hit?
2) Why did the sentry guns open fire on us ?
note : we never used missiles , smart bombs or any other type of radius explosive weapons. The only ones we used were projectile weapons, and the warp disrupter and webifire moduals.
The names have been removed to protect the inocent.

Once you initiate a war, the other corp, has 24 hours to prepare. if you hit befoer the 24 hours, it is like perfoming any act of piracy.

mmmmmm, if it says you are at war with this corp and u didnt hit the station or guns, it must be a bug. bet the guy u were attacking was laughing his ass of though:)
Just like to add, u did wait the 24 hours didnt u.:)

Only two things I can think of are that:
1.) The grace period has not ended between declaring war and being able to shoot. This is either 24 or 48 hours... I'm not entirely sure which. Or...
2.) When CCP changed the coding making web scrambling a hostile action they maybe borked it a bit and introduced a bug wherein even if you are at war you still take a sec hit for scrambling. This, of course, is purely a shot in the dark as I have no evidence either way on it so #1 is likely what happened.

You have to wait 48 hours after the vote starts to begin a war.

I was under the impression that it was only 24 hours till hostilities were ok. At first in the corporate window under wars, Can Fight was no. And when what we assumed was the grace period of 24hrs was over it turned to Can Fight Yes.
I was also present in the fight, and immediately took a sec hit and a sentry guns attacking me after trying to webbify. No splash damage was done....
If I do quit, Im going to recycle all my stuff, then jettison the minerals and blast them with a civilian gattling gun. That'll teach the lot of ya!

I locked on first. Then I activated my webbifer and begain approaching my target. No other firing by me has taken place to this point. As soon as I got into range for webbifiying, and successfully webified my target, Sec status was immediately lowered and sentry guns locked onto me and began spanking me like a red headed step child. At which point I warped my ass out of there. At no time did I fire a weapon capable of damaging the station or sentry guns, or even a ship for that matter.
Crystal clear now I hope....
Is this totally bonkers? Is it possible that the target's faction to the station was very good so that it decided to defend him? Maybe, but what abuot the sec status hit? Why is there no clear documentation anywhere about this.
Oh yeah I forgot.... according to the wizards at CCP it's part of the gameplay to figure out the intricacies.

me and vice jumped some corp enemies last night, and we didn't take any sec hit. Although I'm not sure if either of us use a webifier.
If that is the case, then it needs a damn good fixing.
And 'work it out as you go along' is *not* the right way to find out what will get a 15Mil cruiser destroyed.
