I bet that guy would hate EVE too, he seem¦s to want a lvl grid where lvl 50 is totally uber to lvl 5
And he sound like one that would get a ticket and wait 10hours in line to get to spawnplave
SWG is crap, no doubt. But that guy is..lets call it old fashion minded

And he's so very right about the crushbone factor. All the original EQ zones had it, the expansion zones less so, but it was still there. And it was WORTH visiting every zone for the unique theme art each zone had. The art always blew me away when I really took the time to look at it. even after 3 years.

i think that was a very good article that analyzed the ups and downs of the game. one thing i did really agree with was the "Crushbone factor". being an EQ vet i can still remember my noobie days in that area. EVE is lacking that too, but not for the same reasons. EVE is in a content blackhole because of its amazing skill training system. Instead of spending all my time exping i can do the "fun" stuff. Granted im bound by money, but if im careful i can spend most of my time doing whatever i want.

Sounded to me like he was reviewing DAOC for a sec there... Hell I even played that game for 2 years too.. mostly because I had a great tight knit guild and liked PvP.
But DAOC had no content at release.. and it still has no content, and balance was a joke. Sorta reminds me of a game I'm playing now...

Eve balance is fine. You have the ability to pilot any ship in the game, and use any weapon in the game.
If you lose a fight the other player is more skilled than you, its not a balance thing

Quests are fun. Quests are interesting. Quests give you a break from hunting and killing all the time. Quests are almost completely non-existent in SWG.
Well, they are not entirely absent. You can do long, moderately irritating, one-step quests for Jabba's minions, the Emperor's minions, or some bigshot rebel's minions. But they are simple affairs, really. Very simple. Start at point A, then go to point B, and return to point A. Collect your prize, which ain't worth jack. Heck, even Jack doesn't want your prize. And this leads me to our next topic...
This describes Eves agent missions. Not that I mind, I hate quests. But the agent missions need to turn into real quests, not these courrier missions which are otherwise exactly the same as player made courrier missions. Put those agent missions together in the same window as player missions and develop some real interesting, days or week long, region spanning quests instead.
SCHWAG Eve has too much schwag. And it cant be put on the market! Remove the schwag, reduce the 99999 common schwag on the npc market to 100 to increase its relative value. Common schwag which becomes rare is real schwag.
Crushbone Crushbone in Eve is supposed to be provided by the players. But thats a fundamental issue for the game right now. Implementing crushbone in Eve would mean moving away from the MORPG of the future to rehashing what has been done before. I was surprised (yuck) we had hunting grounds for n00bs (gurista scout posts) where pirates just stood there waiting to be bashed. So which direction? Is Eve PvP or PvE....

PvP or PvE? Well, it HAS to be both. Noobs can't fight in PvP. People who have been in the game a month STILL can't fight in PvP reliably unless they are focused on pure combat. PvP is for battleships and heavy cruisers with high gunnery skills and lots of great gear, not frigates and stock L2 cruisers.
What does it take to be ready for PvP? Simple. You need:
1) A good cruiser or battleship 2) Good combat skills 3) Enough ISK to replace your ship without causing hardship
You need 10 million or so ISK to fund trading to make more money, so if you don't have 15-20 mil then PvP just isn't worth the risk. Sure if you have a corp willing to replace your ship things are different, but for freelancers or small corps PvP just isn't cost effective until they've been around a while. Plenty of time to hunt PC pirates (or PC traders for that matter) when the NPCs are no longer a challenge...

My level 2 cruiser with stock weapons disagrees with you there, sir. .

By noob, I think you mean anyone in a frigate, regardless of game experience. Frigates unable to contribute to a PvP fight is a fundamental game flaw. The bar is increasing, before frigates were fighting, then as everyone got cruisers, you had to have one too. By next week it might be battleships.
I dont really know if frigates cant contribute in battle, they could conceivably in a larger battle or in a swarm, but then everyone would lag out.
But otherwise noobs could fight PvP, if the other guy is also in a frigate. But forcing everyone in a frigate to do PvE is a bad direction and not a solution to a fundamental flaw. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

I never tried it but i really think that a kesterel can contribute alot in a PVP fight for low risk. It's cheap and and deal a lot damage while not being attacked because it'S not meant to be a threat.
When elite frigates kick in this will change even more i hope. Frigates should ahve a place in battles.

this game has auto attack = no skill . Dont kid yerself lol. He who can mine more ,earns more, kills more pirates or he who has loads of free time earns more = kills people with lesser equip .
Skill doesnt even come inot this game ,even less so than say DAoC lol.

Specially when poached with shallots in wine, replaced in shells with herb and garlic butter, and grilled to perfection.
But some may prefer snails tossed with garlic, saffron, shallots and tomato, filling fresh field mushrooms, topped with sour cream, grilled, and presented over a red currant and port wine glaze.
