I have a question regarding joining a corporation. Let's say if I join a corp (null or not) that is at war with another corp, does that mean even if I am at high sec, members of the enemy corp can attack me without consequence?
Thanks!

Yep they can attack and pod you anywhere without repercussions. Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of not knowing. http://www.di.fm/spacemusic |

You could also contact the other side and work as a spy for them. Turn that frown upside down! |

Thank you guys...
Is this only limited corp wise, or if two alliances are fighting, every corp in both alliance will be treated as at war with each other? |

Like Elena said...the latter
To even expand it a bit more.
If a corporation is in an alliance...you can't wardec the corporation itself, you can only wardec the alliance.

You should still join a corp.
EVE is a social game and if you play by yourself in NPC corp it will get very boring.
Also PvP can be fun and challenging. Everyone vs Everyone Xuixien - Space Cat, Queen of Rens |

Yeah, my problem is my play time. I got 2 younglings at home so my playtime is sporadic... plus I made the mistake of investing my skill points jack of all trade style :(
Edit: though this time around I finally got my hauler... so if you need a haul around gallente high sec, I can probably help. |

Most corps don't worry much on play time unless the corp sucks, as for jack of all trades that isn't a problem, it hinders a bit at first because its hard to do things well initially but you have to branch out at some point anyway. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. |

Both of those should NOT be a problem
Plenty of RL first corporations around.
Also, not every corp in EVE requires you to have a fully specialized character, and to be honest...that should not be your goal as at one point in your EVE time you will ruin that.

Yeah, the war dec'ing, and getting blasted outside trade hubs during a cargo runs is what keeps me from joining a corp too. So I figured I'd make me a pile of isk trading and train basic skills (4-5 months), before I bothered joining a corp and getting heavy into PVP and exploration.
Many say the socialization part is the most fun, so that would probably be the main reason to join....it would be for me.
Happy trails....

Most wardecs are nothing if you take the correct precautions, like keeping an eye on local and staying aligned to celestials (never warp to 0 though, instead mix it up as it will make it harder for the war target to land on you after you land). Have instant undock safespots, and bounce bookmarks on gates. If you stay away from the major trade hubs you will likely run into very few war targets unless they are determined to come to your corps home system.
I haven't been killed by a wardec in at least 3 years, so generally you won't have problems if you treat it the right way. Wardecs can be fun especially if you can get your wartargets into making mistakes themselves. But in the end wars are generally games waiting for someone to make a mistake. I once podded myself by blowing a huge fart. |

Most highsec corps are tax farms, the CEO sets taxes a bit below the NPC level and skims the corp wallet for isk whenever he needs it. These parasite corps suck and are one of the things that makes it tough for new players to get into the game.
The other model you see a lot is a corp started by a 5 month noob grad; these guys mean well but they start the corp because the need people to help them with some hair brained scheme; building a POS or grinding faction for jump clones or starting a new Eve business are all common memes. These things typically run for 3 or 4 months and then fall apart as the grind takes its toll and it becomes apparent that the hair brained scheme is never going to be realized.
Another downside is that corp members can freely attack you, so you may be joining an outfit that is set up for the sole purpose of padding ones kill board with blue kills. This is pretty uncommon though.
Despite all the bad ones you will eventually find a good corp, and when that happens New Eden really opens up, so it is important to keep looking until you do find one. Don't hesitate to join and drop 20 or 30 during your first couple of years here. Even if you like a corp, spend some time there and then let them know that you like it but want to try a few more things before settling in permanently. If their not happy with this then they are scammers of some sort or other.
Make sure the CEO or PvP director has at least 50 kills. Even if you don't want to fight they need this experience to teach you how to avoid fights. Evasion is much easier than combat, and is in fact the reason that null sec / PvP corps just don't understand the "combat as optional" crowd. Combat is optional, you just have to learn a few simple procedures and wardecs become irrelevant, and soon after downright fun.
And don't worry about the sporadic playtime, I often have the kids while I'm playing. I get 15 minutes or sometimes an hour with big gaps in between. There is always something to do in Eve regardless of your RL time allotment.
Best of luck with your search. Cooking bacon with Wyatt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hS17crSI54 |

The people who manage to keep interested in Eve while always playing alone are few and far between. BYDI (Shadow cartel) Recruitment open!
