i.e. do all systems have the same number of grids? Or do grids remain the same size, and larger systems have more grids than smaller systems?
Does 1 node = 1 grid?
A grid is an area where a player or other object is in a system. Usually its about 1000km wide or the like. 1 node = 1 or more systems. Grids are areas within systems.
Ok, are the numbers of grids/system static?
Or do the numbers of grids increase as players enter systems, ss's are made with cans placed at them, etc...
Istead of wasting space in this thread, is there somewhere I can go for a full explanation of the System/Grid/Node/Cluster architecture?
I beileve objects in the system are stored as parts of grids. The grid of course is only accessed when a player enters that grid. Thus the server only has to access nearby objects, rather than search all objects for ones that are nearby. - Proud member of the [23].

I didn't say two servers run one system - I said a server handles one or more players, regardless of the system they are in.
I am never passed from one server to another, I stay with the server I was given when I logged on.
But then every server would have to poll every other server to calculate exactly what is going on in a single grid. That would boost server load exponentially.
It's all academic as it would virtually be a re-write, client and server.
But... No you wouldn't need every server polling every other server constantly, you would need a server to send a message to the other server when one of it's players interacts with a player on another server.
Compared to the traffic generated by people opening the market window it's not a big deal to have a few hundred, or thousand, people fighting a that moment.

Personally I think CCP is doing a good job. I do however think they should re-imburse players for downtime and restarts through free hours / days on their account.
All the guys here who ***** and snivel need to get a life. I would love to see any of you code a system that was lag free.
Keep up the good work. Just quit nerfing.
