Argument:
The Raptor should have a 4th midslot.
Justification:
At the moment, the raptor is not in an 'advantages - disadvantages' relationship with the crow. The raptor is just crapper. It is the slowest interceptor, and the least popular.
Caldari are supposed to be the EW gods. Yet minmatar have the 4-midslot inty. This inty is also one of the fastest.
Adding an extra midslot, along with the Raptor's current crap-in-all-areas tendancy, will make it not overpowered - but infact slightly less crap. It might even be nudged into 'below-average' status.
Conclusion
No need to argue with this - there's no point. If you are apathetic you may aswell type 'signed' because you'd have me on your good side, which is infinitely preferable to the alternative. -omg-

The Raptor warps at 13 AU/s which the Crow doesn't (I think). But that's about the only advantage. The Crow can fit the same stuff the Raptor can but not the other way round. In addition, the Raptor has more mass and worse fitting stats.
While a 4th med sounds nice, I'd prefer more turret hardpoints. To make Crow the missile Interceptor and Raptor the one with guns. Also change the kinetic missile bonus to one that is gun related. That would make for a nice interceptor.
P.S. Your thread title doesn't really attract people.

Edited by: Dimitri Forgroth on 02/11/2005 13:57:46 Either 4th mid, or a 3 turret ship with missile bonus to a hybrid bonus. (one launcher point maybe? not sure)

Nah Im already getting a little large around the midslots. What I really need is a few extra lows.
And I heard the noise of thunder. And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him |

I'd do as you say, then shave a bit off the mass, perhaps give it a little more speed. Make it a good tackler.

Edited by: Anjerrai Meloanis on 02/11/2005 15:02:43 well i think it would have to lose a high slot or low stot to get a 4th med, but if thats what you want go for it..
raptor is 4/3/3 right? stilletto is 3/4/3, so naturally you have to swap a slot rather than just add one :p uh.

Ya raptor needs an improvement badly: make this the tackler .. even with a 4th mid it will be quite slow and hard to fit.. maybe a slight mass decrease?

"raptor is 4/3/3 right? stilletto is 3/4/3, so naturally you have to swap a slot rather than just add one :p"
Given the 'typical' Caldari ship layouts, it'd probably wind up as 4/4/2 with 2 turret + 2 launcher hardpoints... kind of like Mk2 Merlin, really o.O;

I fly the Raptor on a regular basis because of it's better scan resolution than the Crow, and the sensor booster + signal amplifier combo is effective, not close to what a Stiletto can achieve but good nonetheless.
The raptor firepower is very low compared to most other inties, but it wouldn't matter if the ship had the slot layout to be a pure tackler.
What has been suggested countless times is that each race should have a pure tackler, incredibly fast and small sig, warp disrupting bonus and low damage output, just enough to take on tech I frigs with a 50/50 chance of winning.
If I had the opportunity to change the raptor I would make it: 3 highslots: 3 missile hardpoints /1 turret (this is close to the Condor MK2). 4 midlsots: for MWD, sensor booster and 2 x scrambler (could stay 3 mids if a scrambling bonus would be added). 3 lowslots: for cap recharge, nanofibers or signal amplifier. Better cap (or significantly better cap regeneration).
The malediction, Ares and Stiletto would fill the 'pure tackler' scheme with minor tweaking, with only 3 mids if possible (thanks to a scrambling bonus) otherwise some nasty tactics can be achieved with 4 mids (EW). Well, maybe with 4 mids those ships could have either a EW or tackling fitting, but I like the tackling bonus better than 4 mids.
But of course I don't have the power to change ships design, otherwise the MK2 Moa would be worth flying *pats Tux on the back*
