Can't really see you guys getting money off mining equipment. Does anyone pay the ransom? If not, how are you guys making money? I have a main and I think I am absolutely sick of mining and was thinking of giving EVE a last shot as a pirate. Seems like here lately I really want to **** people off, lol.

Yes some pay ransoms and some don't. Mostly making most of my isk in 0.0 atm from solo engagements on frigs with t2 equipment but that's not really considered piracy. Decent isk can be pulled in from just ganking people at gates or stations. Many haulers around just begging to be hurt...

It is entirely possible to make a fortune from pvp/pirating. Its all a numbers game
2 or 3 of you will be able to kill excatly the same number of miners as 10 ppl would, however you get a better split. If there are 10 ppl online, split into two groups. Do not blob up.

Exactly.
In the beginning it is difficult to make a profit at piracy. With practice and some compitence i do well without resorting to gate camping. I make alot of money in other ways, but given just an interceptor+loadout i'd probably have 100+mil in my wallet within a week solo, not sure if i'd manage more or less in a gang as i'm almost always solo.

when you're a pirate it's hard to make money in eve. but what the hell why do you need money if you have tactics :P if you got a decent team everything should go well. sometimes you got lucky to ransom the right people but most of the time when people are scared of ya there is nothing to scramble :(
i blame u , infod, beer and kebabs and others !! :P
but well yeah earning money isn't the first priority for all pirates ... as long as i have fun in the game it's okay :)

Who cares how many it took, result is they got a kill and made cash from it.
Job done tbh.
Pirating is often a boring waiting game, you earn next to zero, then bam, along comes that sweet load and you have a nice earner.
Inbetween kills add some gangs roaming around to wipe you out, totally empty belts, people insta'ing away safely, it can be very boring and risky, and other times a total cash filled cake walk.
Make what you can of it, your never thrown any bones with regads to the way pirating works these days patch after patch, its a constant upward climb with few gains, take what you can when you can as often as you can.

THEY MAKE A KILLING!!!! YARR!!!
Most pirates sell mods from shipkills, or make money from ransoming. Other pirates have mining alts that make the money for them

Solo piracy made me about halve a billion from ransom and loot. Plenty of my victims were barges and from my experience they were often better targets than mining BS. If a mining BS refused to pay up it often meant little profit as the loot (Miner II's, co processors, etc) was worth crap. Barges however always have Strip Miners (3mil a piece), in some cases t2 variant (12mil a piece) and in two cases Harvester Drones (YUMMY). Killing NPC'rs was usually just silly as low sec empire is usually only roamed by cruisers. However I got one goddamn fat pigeon in a low sec system with a complex in it. Those complexes are usually ran by Battleships with juicy mods, in this case a faction battleship. But now my secrate is low (from 4.8 to -1.8) and I rather not pirate my way out of high sec so it'll be a while before I have another pirating spree. If you've got the skills I strongly suggest Solo. Low sec systems are very solo friendly with sentries to protect you from small gangs and stations to dock and log (when you're not criminally flagged that is). Gangs are way too easy to notice in unpopulated areas and will scare most good targets away before you can get to them.

I come from a crowd where ransomming is not considered piracy. Pirates Kill for the Loot to make the isk Kidnappers hold people to ransom.
But yes there is isk to be made but its not as high as people like to think.
Besides theres too many pirates in EvE at the moment. |

Many pirates have a second account that they use for a steady income, less fortunate players, like myself, just need to make sure they don't fly expensive ships ( dont fly what you cant afford) not die often and loot***** like crazy.
Then you can easily make a living out of it It's also a very fun way of living in EVE.
I heart all, some more then others though. |

Piracy is very much a waiting game, i.e. waiting for your next payday (unless you're independently wealthy or have a 2nd 'bear account).
Piracy is cyclic: you're broke, you hit a score, you spend like a drunken sailor, you're broke again, rinse and repeat. --------------

I have to say that in my ratting days, the most money was made two ways.
1. Barge go Boom. Big. Yellow. Bullseye.
2. Don't ransom an indie for ISK, if you're lucky enough to get one that doesn't have enough WCS. Don't scrap him, either. SURE, you might get a decent chunk from those yummy expanders, but the most money I ever made (enough to put my corp I used to run all from their frigs to cruisers and BCs, plus kit them with the gear) was by demanding someone drop their cargo or be destroyed. It was kind of an experiment, but the guy was from a nubbish corp that had been around only slightly longer than he had. As it turns out, he was hauling part of their corp hangar, but was more worried about his personal losses than the corps loss.....
He jettisoned the cargo, though he'd be cute and shoot it out of the sky with his little railgun, but his shot missed. My missiles at point blank range didn't. Didn't have the skills for WCS, so I took out his intie for his insolence in one salvo and left him to float in the pod. A total of 50mil was made for the corp off the jettison can, and I kept the 8mil in cargo expanders from the wreckage as my personal bonus.
Normally I wouldn't kill after a ransom, but that guy asked for it. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |

I think you guys are misreading her. It looks like she's saying that many people use second accounts/alts, but she herself doesn't, instead flying more replacable ships and not taking stupid risks. She just put in a comma where she needed a period.
