My security status seems to be going up a -lot- slower than before Exodus. My character at the time got a 0.2 security rating very easily doing level 1 missions and Fast Talk at level 4 within a two month period.
Now I can be doing missions all day long against pirate factions for level 3 agents, and my security rating increases maybe only three times within a day max. I've been doing level three agents for about two months now, level 2 for a good two months as well. I know about the security increase being over a 15 minute period and the highest kill during that period but a max of three security increase entries over a 6 hour period of straight missioning doesn't make me think the system is working. Fast Talk seems to have a much lesser impact if any at all now.
Do others have this problem? I know raising security status doesn't mean much to some but it's kind of a cool way to progress my character.
Somewhere the numbers aren't adding up. There any word on this from CCP or is it just nerfed and working as intended?
Thanks.

I doubt anything is wrong. The security status increases are a percentage increase, not a set value increase; therefore, as your security status rises, your progress towards a perfect 5.0 slows.
They've changed/nerfed this system at least twice now, because people were able to max out their security status too quickly. Wouldn't suprise me if they did it again. ---

Several NPCs gave very high sec boni, which was a bug. This was fixed, now sec status works as originally intended. That's at least what ccp says.

They also doubled all sec bonuses cause I whined.
And I heard the noise of thunder. And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him |

Shows as 5.6! Hey, I'm impressed. Didn't know anything beyond 5.0 was possible yet. ---

Edited by: Raytesh on 04/11/2005 08:12:17 You can only reach 5.0 on normal NPCs. I dont remember were else i posted this but its floating around. If your lucky and your doing certain Agent missions some of those dark blood or shadow serpentis or any of the named bships yeild a % increase that allows you to go farther than 5.0.
Normal NPC rats allow you to reach 5.0 and then after that it doesnt matter how many rats you blow up your sec status will not increase. But say your in 0.0 hunting commanders and you start killing off quite a few of them including named commanders of the pirate factions your sec status will go above 5.0 but keeping in mind your sec status will only rise if you kill commanders. Normal NPCs will still yeild no sec status increase.

I got to 5.0 doing the usual things with 750k bs's outside empire before the changes, then screamed 'cos i thought the sec increases were broken when i got there. It was politely pointed out to me that 5.0 was the normal max doing what i was doing not 10.0 (and that i really ought to pay more attention) It wasn't until i started doing level 4 kill missions intensivley that i got the odd increase beyond 5.0.

Is there any positive effect of having a lot of Sec-status? I mean, A reformed pirate doesn't need to have his/her status higher than 0.0

Besides being able to have a long pirate spree in low sec empire to work it down to -1.9? No.
