It cant be done. There is no way players can change the security-status of a system what-so-ever. ___________________________ Chicks dig Brutor's |

Indeed. Not only is it completely impossible, it's a poor idea, if for the only reason that oretype and NPC rat type happens to be dependent on security status. Making a glorious -1.0 security system into 0.5 would be affront to EVE and tremendously stupid at that. Besides, in 0.5 you can't shoot people you don't like*. :)
*And get away with it

from what I gather placing multiple POS's in a system does affect the marginal sec status to a degree.
What I mean is that a system that is -.875 can change to a -.556 or something over time as more POS's are built in system. I am unsure about this to be honest, but it is what I hear...correct me if I am wrong.

It is intended as the devs stated in a security status remake proposal thread that you will be able to in the future some how raise security status.
It will most likely be part of the slow journey towards turing a small collection of solar systems with a flag into an actual declared empire recognized by npc factions and the like. Personally if they do something like this I think it should start a small war which must be finished to finalize. The occupying pirate/npc faction sends in forces consistently of degree related to the number of territory attempting to be claimed. Those forces then rove belts, gates, stations. even hunt safe spots if they have npc "probe" ships which simulate SS hunting.
It should be an all out fight for independence but after the smoke clears if you prevail the security status goes from 0.0 to 0.1 and you reach X amount. To bring it up again you have then engage in another massive fight. Pushing the NPC faction to lesser strengths with each move which would show with the lessening of the roving pirates in the belts. Having a .5 system with battleship spawns makes no sense. As much sense as level 4 missions in empire.

You're wrong.

Nice story, any references at all?
As someone pointed out, making any 0.0 system into 0.1 or higher is so pointless it's like robbing your own wallet. If you want to claim a system, thats already possible, what devs are working on is factional warfare. No clue what that is going to entail but maybe one day we'll be able to contest the npc sovereignity of some 0.0 systems.

What would be cool would being able to control a system so that you could mount sentries on the gates, to keep those you don't want out. Not saying it should happen, just saying it would be cool. And if it were to happen, would require (as stated above) a ton of combat and firepower to wrest control from the current owners (or to 'tame' it, as it were)

Refrences for?? the idea I just presented? How would I refrence my own idea?
And as for the raise security status it has been dev mentioned as part of the end goal including gate turrets and player empires.

well it used to be doable, player activity inside a system used to or still cause ss variations iirc. (never wondered why systems ss arent round numbers ;))
