Holy moley!! Over a years wait!!
Well, it was worth the wait, but now I feel like I am getting sick of this portrait... maybe I'll change it again...

 could someone please explain to me "how i can change my portrait?"
 Do you have to generate an entirely new character;including all the attribute stuff?

Just create a new character on your account with the portrait you want and then using the potrait change service swap the portrait of your main with your alt. Thats how it works
Atrributes and all that stuff wont copy..so it wont really matter.
