I'm buying a new rig and am thinking of going sli.
Just wondering has anyone here played eve on an sli pc and if so how noticable are the increased graphics?
thanks

EVE is mostly CPU-bound. You won't notice much of a difference with a SLI setup. ----------

you will actually have decreased performance with a SLI PC as the SLI loadbalancing will compete with EVE for CPU cycles.

SLI is handled by the motherboard. The actual loadbalancing has a minimal impact on CPU because it's still being processed by the card GPUs. SLI however does not have a huge impact on EVE because, as stated before, it is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. If you decided to up the resolution to 1600x1200 and switch on AAx4 or AAx8 then you would see a slight improvement with SLI, but not as much as a GPU intensive game like Half-Life 2 or F.E.A.R.

I have an SLI system and adore it's capabilities.

What Guardian Alpha said!
I've got a SLI rig myself, with a P4 660 EM64T at 3.6GHz. EVE's set to run in 1600x1200, AA at 8xS and AS at 16x and I'm doing about 70-80 FPS at all times. If I switch off SLI, pull down the AA and AS a bit, I'm still getting the same FPS. SLI doesn't do much impact on the system at all (for EVE).
However, CCP's got some nice changed in the loop which will turn the load over to the GPU - so once there SLI/CrossFire users will get a huge improve on it all. __________

Remember eve can run in custom rezzes so dont forget that if you have dual monitors or tripple you can get some nice widescreenage from one or 2 cards ... i have 2 6800's in sli but rarely use them that way seeing as most the games i play dont use SLI yet and with the noew driver package from nvidia you can now turn Sli on and Off on the go ... no more restarting
