It is diffifult to pinpoint what the start of the story is. In what started out as a venture capital attempt, turned bounty hunt, ended up as a interstellar Court of Law. The names have been changed to protect the privacy, but the chatlog and narration is all true. This is the story of AA's encounter with CJ, and how it ultimately turned into a strange, scripted dialogue and 5 mil isk deposited into my wallet.
It started out several days ago. My friend CJ was casually drifting through space systems, when he came across AA. He convo'd AA and asked if he was interested in helping to finance his industry corp. The initial asking price was 1 mil. When that was refused, he reduced it to 250k. That was refused also, apparently, but CJ would have none of it and wouldn't leave the guy alone until he "paid". This didn't work out well and they parted ways. Later on CJ was asking around in local if anyone would be interested in a bounty hunt on a certain person. This is where I come in. I was actually in the area on a bounty hunt at the time, in search of Charlie Murphy. I had been looking for him everywhere in system and was heading home after giving up, when i saw the goings-on in local. I quickly perked up and said I'd be interested. Minutes later I had all the details and my new excursion began. Early progressed was mired by one very critical flaw: no one knew where this AA was hiding. Almost unable to buy a crow to hunt this guy down, CJ already began convo'ing me asking on my progress. I told him i was just fitting and getting ready to go. This didn't bother me. It would later turn out, that I wouldn't need that Crow at all. No one knew where he was, but we knew he was somewhere in low sec mining, or hauling something. This was not enough info to go on though. So my first attempt was to try to get him to join my corp. Owning my own corp without any members, this was no problem at all. I quickly changed its appearance to seem like a mining and production corp.

Having my 2 alts join, i bolstered. The corp size to 4, the size of a small but respectable mining corp. My client CJ told me how this guy liked doing mining ops, getting free ships for joining, getting free replacement ships if he loses one, and merc protection against rats and pirates in low sec. It was time to convo him, introduce myself and present my offer.

Gindar > hiya! AA > hi Gindar > a friend of mine told me you're looking for a corp to call home Gindar > we're just starting out but i think we have what you need AA > who was this friend?
(long pause)
Gindar > his name is jimmys savior Gindar > he just joined the corp as well AA > i don't know who that is Gindar > yeah he's a loner usually Gindar > does missions etc but i guess he might have known someone from your old corp AA > oh, ok Gindar > i know one thing though, staying in noob corp can get boring fast Gindar > anyways we give new members free mining frigates or indy and we could use a hand with the mining ops. like we said we're just starting out AA > i might be interested Gindar > alright Gindar > well hey you know how hard recruiting can be and we could really use a hand Gindar > so make an offer AA > sorry, got to go for now Gindar > alright convo me when you get back AA > k
later on....
Gindar > hi, you back yet? AA > semi afk Gindar > on our mining ops we sometimes go into 0.6 or so AA > i don't think i'm going to be joining a corp Gindar > it's usually no big deal but we replace any frigates you lose for free Gindar > and in the rare instance you're hauling and you lose it to the rats, we replace that too Gindar > we even have protection from the rats too! about 2 of our members are dedicated mercenaries, including jimmys savior AA > what do they do? Gindar > whenever we go into low sec mining they take care of all the rats and any pirates Gindar > jimmys savior flies a raven usually Gindar > and my other corpmate ya i think he flies a hac, deimos i think Gindar > it's real overkill when they come along with us in 0.6 ;D AA > i'm not going to be joining a corp, but thanks anyway Gindar > sorry to hear that m8 Gindar > do you still do mining? AA > yes Gindar > just out of curiousity whereabouts do you usually do your ops? we'd be glad to give you any support with rats or pirates AA > i'm usually in 0.4 Gindar > oh so you could use our help then AA > its not safe out there Gindar > we don't do ops all the time AA > but i manage Gindar > what system? i'll tell my corpmates and they can come along Gindar > you can never be too safe from pirates you know AA > thats ok AA > thanks Gindar > alright then Gindar > talk to you later man AA > later
i decided to back off for a bit since he seemed unwilling. this was going to be harder than i thought. later on, i tried a different strategy.
since he was being so reluctant and outright turned my offer down, i started trying to think of other ways to find out what system this guy was in. while i was flying around fitting my crow etc, it hit me. AA already knew that someone was trying to kill him, after his encounter with CJ. but he didn't know who. i had the idea of convoing him as my alt, who was mentioned earlier, to warn him of an impending (fake) merc attack on him. CJ thought this was a great idea so next thing that happened...

jimmys savior > yo jimmys savior > this is gindar's friend jimmys savior > he told me he invited you into the corp it's cool if you don't want to join AA > who are you? jimmys savior > it's cool i'm with gindar's corp AA > he said you knew me jimmys savior > did he? jimmys savior > what did he say? AA > yes AA > he said that you knew me and wanted me to join jimmys savior > ya i dont deal with corps much myself as you can tell from my employment history jimmys savior > but i've been friends with gindar and some of his friends for a while now AA > i think you guys just want to kill me jimmys savior > lol ur paranoid AA > am i? jimmys savior > why would anyone want to kill you AA > i know someone was trying to get people after me this morning jimmys savior > really? jimmys savior > what was his name? AA > and it just so happens that all these people with negative security status are trying to get me to join thier corps jimmys savior > oh if you're talkin about gindar don't worry about him jimmys savior > he used to be a pirate like a year ago jimmys savior > that's all jimmys savior > what was that guy's name man AA > and i don't even know you people and you are messenging me jimmys savior > because i convo'd you to warn about someone who i heard was after you jimmys savior > his name is CJ AA > yes i know who it is jimmys savior > is that the same guy! AA > yes jimmys savior > i was in local right jimmys savior > just minding my own business AA > he was ****ed because i wouldnt give him free isk jimmys savior > and i see him tryin to recruit people to kill you jimmys savior > i was just passing through and i told gindar about it AA > yeah, and you wanted to kill me jimmys savior > he found out you are into industry so he figured if you joined you could get better protection than just by staying in noob corp AA > i'm in secure space anyway, he can't get me jimmys savior > dude, don't you know about suicide kestrels? jimmys savior > some mercenaries will go to any length to get a bounty AA > what is that? jimmys savior > it's where they get 5-10 guys in kestrels and just come up to you and gank you AA > is there a bounty on me? jimmys savior > yeah jimmys savior > he was saying some crazy **** AA > how much? jimmys savior > like "i'll give 25 mil to the first person who kills this guy" AA > damn AA > this alt stays docked most of the time anyway AA > just building jimmys savior > oh jimmys savior > well hey that's cool AA > i ended up working it out with him though jimmys savior > you did? AA > yeah, he wanted people to kill me just because he thought i was ignoring him AA > i was just afk AA > wierd jimmys savior > i don't blame you AA > he wanted some isk to call everyone off jimmys savior > building is boring you don't need to be watching the whole time jimmys savior > damn that ain't nice AA > only 200k so i gave it to him to leave me alone AA > pretty messed up jimmys savior > and he still wouldn't leave you alone? jimmys savior > ya that is messed up jimmys savior > did he like jimmys savior > try to camp the station you were in or something AA > i was nowhere near him AA > he messeged me wanting isk for some mission calling it an investment AA > and i said no AA > then he got ****ed AA > i don't even know him
at this point, he was admitting a lot. so i thought it was be fun to play along. i decided to invite CJ to the convo. only thing is: i said to AA he'd come in apologize, but then i tell CJ to come in and demand an apology from AA. CJ is knowing this and plays along.

jimmys savior > look it was probably a misunderstanding jimmys savior > why dont i invite him to this convo and he can apologize to you AA > so he did want you to kill me? jimmys savior > nope AA > invite him then jimmys savior > hey CJ > ummm hi? CJ > hey there AA ;) AA > hey jimmys savior > well what do you have to say for yourself CJ > Well AA, I dont see why Im still being bothered by all of this. CJ > What do you want AA? More bounty's? AA > i'm still being bothered by people you contacted before CJ > I called off my merc's after the 200k was received. I thought we learnt before? Now you stand here accusing me of lieing!? CJ > I said I ended it and I did. Do not accuse me of this Mr. AA. I really was contente moving on for our little issue earlier CJ > Perhap youd like you to apologize for your lieing? Or will I need to contact my people again? jimmys savior > what! jimmys savior > hold on a minute CJ AA > ok, then it is over. i didn't do anything to you jimmys savior > you were supposed to apologize to HIM! CJ > Jimmy, who are you!? CJ > apolgoize to no one jimmys savior > im just the mediator here CJ > this guy is stnading here telling me im a liar CJ > and that Im not a man of my word CJ > and you expend ME ot apolgozie to him!?!? CJ > Saying its over isnt good enough AA! it HAS been offer since you paid me but now you're calling me a liar! jimmys savior > erm jimmys savior > look you guys need to chill out
jimmys savior > just shake hands CJ > When I get an apology for his accusations, Ill consider it! AA > i'm sorry jimmys savior > now CJ jimmys savior > you apologize too CJ > Sorry? 200k will mean sorry to me jimmys savior > unbelievable! CJ > You paid before and I left CJ > now YOU drag me back into this CJ > 200k and as I did last time....I will leave you alone. JUST like I left you alone the first time jimmys savior > CJ you're out of control jimmys savior > don't make me kick you from the convo jimmys savior > ! AA > jimmy invited you, not me jimmys savior > i ask you one last time CJ what do you have to say for yourself CJ > What I have to say is I forgot about this situation. Now, I was dragged back in by one of you, iorrelavent to me who. AA greets me by calling me a liar CJ > I would like a small payment of 200k for wasting my time, dragging me back into a situation that I forgot about and moved on from, and for calling me a liar jimmys savior > that's it jimmys savior > you're done AA > i never called you a liar
at this point the role playing between me and CJ is getting so funny it's all that matters. i tell CJ to just act increasingly out of control and he does. i kick him for 5 minutes, and attempt to apologize to my new friend.

EVE System > CJ was kicked from the channel by jimmys savior., Effective until 2005.11.05 22:14:41. AA > what the hell was that!!! jimmys savior > look im sorry jimmys savior > he was just out of control, clearly AA > now he is going to get more people
jimmys savior > more people or not, i think you're safe as long as you stay in that noob corp and never undock
AA > and never undock?
jimmys savior > i think it's a good idea. just to stay on the safe side jimmys savior > im not sure what you did but you REALLY ****ed him off AA > i think it is just an isk scam AA > this started because i wouldnt give him a mill jimmys savior > yeah jimmys savior > you know what? jimmys savior > maybe you should just give him that 200k jimmys savior > and he'll leave you alone jimmys savior > you don't have to but it might be a good idea jimmys savior > so that he calls off those mercs jimmys savior > either that or just never undock. it's up to you
i tell CJ to come in for 1 final time, and to act totally out of control. the bounty doesn't matter anymore. he asks me where am i going with this and i say to him, this is perfect. we don't need to do a bounty this is too funny. we should just end it like this.
EVE System > Channel MOTD changed to "<font color="#ffffffff"></font>" by jimmys savior. jimmys savior > what the! CJ > LISTEN!!!!! CJ > You brought me here and accused me of lieing! I dont like these personal attacks jimmys savior > CJ get out of here! CJ > 200k ISK and Ill leave you alone forever....JUST like I pulled out when you paid me the first time CJ > I swear AA! You dont pay 200k ISK and I will never take my eyes off of you! EVE System > CJ was kicked from the channel by jimmys savior., Effective until 2005.12.05 22:18:02. jimmys savior > december 5th. that should give him enough time to cool off jimmys savior > well im sorry AA for your troubles jimmys savior > thank you, and good night

Aftermath: CJ pays me 5 mil for the laughs. AA is very, very confused. I go buy some more ships with the money and pvp in syndicate for the next few days. CJ has more work for me now. Everybody's a winner.
The End.

tldr version:
bounty hunt proves too difficult so we mess with the target's head instead. client finds this hilarious and pays (but not the whole bounty amount). "it's probably a good idea to never undock. just to stay on the safe side. and keep hiding in that npc noob corp."
after it was over i evemail him saying, "i think it's safe to undock now."

I think it's awesome when people do things like this. It takes more social interaction to make 5mil doing that than to make 1bil mining on your five accounts. Social engineering for the win \o/.

Well got to handed to you this must be the most useless longwinded attempt ot make people fall a sleep in the history of eve.
If you would have spend your time more wisely you could have made a lot more ISK in the time you took just setting this guy up for a few million.
Seriously in the time it took you to change your corp and to talk to the guy over and over again you could have been doing something useful instead. ------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

So you would rather gather up virtual waelth as quickly as possible, than have a great time making new friends? I'm sorry but the reason EVE is an online game, is so the players can interact with eachother.
Great story, and good job at turning a possibly impossible bounty into an entertaining time.
