If a corp declares war on you do you have to accept the declaration for it to become legitimate ?

Rest of Europe Corp : Erm ... sorry, we don't accept your declaration.
Germany Corp : Oh. Ok. sorry to have bothered you.

On chaos (dev server) there was a patch or two where you had to accept the war. Public outcry was so bad that never made it to live. ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

But think of the potential to exploit corporate wars. A pirate corp could simply declare war on their victims and get away with killing them anywhere...or anyone could for that matter.
If corporations don't accept war declarations, there should at least be some built-in (pro-active) mechanism that warns corporation members of declared wars. They could choose to remain or leave.
Q. Gopher __________ I know...it's only ROCK and roll, but I like it!! |

Yeah pirate corps can start corp wars with anyone and then attack them without retribution to start....But after a while when the corp gets stronger and more allies they can freely go after the pirates and they will have nowhere to hide. -----------------------------
It's all about the fortune and glory, fortune and glory!

Edited by: agrizla on 07/08/2003 12:20:31 There's a limit on how many wars you can have concurrently. So no exploit here.
And as for any sort of "acceptance" nonsense being proposed - It's the stupidest thing I have heard all year
Edit - it's not just this thread. I have seen people in local whining about how they should have to accept a war before it starts

Edited by: The Machman on 07/08/2003 14:37:37 I know it sounds absurd and I dont think that you should have to have it accepted but I heard thats the way it was.
I never proposed this should be the case.
However at the moment if a small corp has a falling out with one person in another small corp they can easily start a war just to attack them.
Having limited amount of wars will help but doesnt prevent exploits totally.
A further question !
If someone declares war can you immediately surrender ? If so what penalty is there ?
Can they declare war straight after ?
Can the person who declares war call it off then re declare ?
If so a limit on wars doesnt do anything...

Not quite. There's a limit to how many you can have concurrently which you declared. You can have a bazillion wars if everybody declares them on you. Of course, this still prevents any exploit. :) ___________________________________________
